Blattner is expanding our energy construction leadership into gas power generation. You will lead the preconstruction and estimating efforts for utility-scale GPG projects from the earliest stages through handoff to construction, coordinating with multiple teams and clients to secure competitive bids.

You will mentor staff, improve estimating processes, and help shape the standards for Blattner's GPG business, ensuring safety, quality, and cost efficiency across projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of preconstruction and/or construction estimating experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for utility-scale gas power generation projects from early development through handoff to construction.
• Review project scopes and technical requirements; coordinate bid strategies; ensure estimates are accurate and competitive.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, suppliers, subcontractors and clients to evaluate risks and develop winning proposals.
• Oversee bid preparation and contract negotiations; drive seamless transition from preconstruction to project execution; coordinate vendor relationships and project setup activities.
• Mentor team members and drive continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems, and best practices.

Blattner is expanding our energy construction leadership into gas power generation. This is a unique opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up, backed by a company with decades of proven success in the energy sector. This position will help us shape the processes and standards that carry this business forward to deliver end-to-end hybrid energy solutions.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a Manager I – Estimating (Gas Power Generation), you will lead the preconstruction and estimating efforts for utility‑scale GPG projects from the earliest stages of project development through handoff to the construction team. A typical day involves managing estimating teams, reviewing project scopes and technical requirements, coordinating bid strategies, and ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client expectations. You'll work closely with engineering, procurement, project management, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to evaluate risks, identify opportunities, and develop winning proposals. In addition to overseeing bid preparation and contract negotiations, you'll play a key role in creating a seamless transition from preconstruction to project execution by coordinating handoffs, vendor relationships, and project setup activities. This role also drives continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems, and best practices while mentoring team members and supporting the growth of Blattner's GPG business.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

• Displays personal and professional ethics and complies with and enforces company policies and procedures during project estimates, including utilizing company estimating software, performing bid reviews, etc. Takes personal responsibility to ensure that a quality bid has been produced.
• Develop department strategy and vision with regular reporting of relevant industry precedents and procedures.
• Advises and supports Manager Estimating with estimate planning in preparation for project pre‑bid meeting, schedule creation, and proposal preparation.
• Supports the Director of Estimating and Vice President, Procurement to develop Mega project review document for Executive approval(s).
• Supervises and provides development of subordinates through mentoring, formal training and exposure to diverse work experiences.
• Verifies that the team identifies and calculates cost of project quality and safety requirements (training, PPE) and determines JHA risks and includes costs in estimates.

What You’ll Need

• 5 or more years of applicable preconstruction and/or construction experience or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience in estimating, project management, contract negotiations and sound construction methods; with an emphasis on safety and quality.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction related discipline.

• Experience developing conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for large‑scale energy infrastructure projects.
