Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 to lead production planning, staffing, and continuous improvement at the McClellan, CA site. The role requires strong leadership, program management, and a focus on quality and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive manufacturing experience, SAP/Solumina proficiency, and the ability to guide cross-functional teams through complex production challenges while maintaining a Top-Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 8+ years experience; advanced degrees may reduce requirement.
• 2+ years leading manufacturing/production or engineering projects or teams.
• Experience with SAP and Solumina in manufacturing settings.
• AS9100D quality system knowledge or experience.
• U.S. Citizen, eligible for Top-Secret clearance.
• PM experience in manufacturing/engineering.

Responsibilities

What You'll get to do:

• Direct production activities to plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules, in conjunction with technical and program requirements to meet production/delivery requirements in a fast-paced environment.

• Oversee the status of work in process, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that equipment, materials, and services are available, as needed.

• Allocate staffing to maximize efficiency, achieve schedule, and target productive yields.

• Lead fabrication, assembly, production control, and material services teams

• Coordination with cross functional teams across multiple organization including Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering and Business Management to ensure effective communication and coordination.

• Lead and optimize manufacturing operations by developing and implementing strategies that enhance productivity, reduce cost, and ensure high-quality product delivery.

• Accountable for maintenance of site-specific manufacturing standard operating procedures, work instructions, forms, and instructions/procedures within site MES.

• Develop manufacturing proposals & basis-of-estimates (BOEs) for potential contracts.

• Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing manufacturing team.

• Direct development and implementation of continuous improvement objectives using Least Waste Way Standard Work and eliminating waste to improve safety, ensure quality, meet delivery schedules, and raise morale.

• Provide guidance to Design Engineering during drawing reviews regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques; and to identify any manufacturability challenges or changes required ahead of drawing release.

• Proactive management of risks, issues, or opportunities relating to cost and schedule performance.

• Establish Procedures for calibration and Maintenance of standard tools across Manufacturing as well laboratory management ensuring compliance with ESD and FOD requirements.

The ideal candidate will be able to work individually as well as collaborate with a diverse group of individuals, work tactically, but with an eye towards future strategy, and exhibit solid communication skills while acting as the technical representative voice for manufacturing.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager 2 based out of McClellan, CA.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with 8 years of experience; Master's with 6 years of experience; PhD with 4+ years of experience (4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant, direct experience with people or project leadership in manufacturing/production, operations, or engineering.

• Experience with SAP and Solumina

• Experience with AS9100D requirements

• Must be a US Citizen

• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance

• Project management experience in manufacturing and or engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Bachelors in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field, or a Masters in a STEM field

• Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment.

• Continuous improvement implementation experiences that include problem solving, and leading project teams to improve flow and standardize processes.

• Supervisory/management experience.

• Lean Manufacturing Experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $121,100.00 - $181,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
