Job Summary

As Manager of GENCO Operations, you will plan, direct, and implement key operations activities for our Edgewater Generation Station in Sheboygan, WI, ensuring safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Performs all leadership duties, including hiring, rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, addressing conflict with care and respect, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees report to work fit for duty, adhering to the Code of Conduct, and modeling Alliant Energy’s Core Values.
  • Directly participates in the development of plant-specific goals and objectives.
  • Continuously monitors performance results against financial and operating goals and communicates the information to employees.
  • May have responsibility for leading maintenance activities and personnel.
  • Ensures that employees understand and accept business unit and plant/unit financial and operating goals and focus efforts on achieving them.
  • Participates in the plant budget planning, forecasting, and reconciling processes.
  • Demonstrates leadership in safety by observing and enforcing safety rules, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting unsafe conditions that could lead to accidents.
  • Acts as the ultimate decision-maker during life-threatening emergency situations involving facilities, people, and property.
  • Leads and promotes the establishment, acceptance, and implementation of operating policies, process performance, and procedures that maximize financial and operating results.
  • Recommends improvements and changes to operating procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Engages in additional duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and help deliver on the purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business administration, or a related area preferred.

Experience Requirements
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience or equivalent experience in project management, temporary leadership assignments, community or external organization leadership roles, or other demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in manufacturing or mechanical/electrical engineering.
Other Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge in manufacturing or electrical plant operations (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience working with labor union management (preferred).
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e‑mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
