Job summary

SUMMARY:

The FSQA Manager (FSQM) is responsible for Quality Management System (QMS) compliance. The FSQM manages all company-wide, quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices, to assure the company of continuous conformance with appropriate standards and regulations. This position is at-will, and nothing in this job description is intended to create a contract of employment.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Conduct regulatory response to notices, directives, guidelines and recommendations
  • Ensure effective implementation of quality programs manuals
  • Conduct routine validation of pre-requisite and food safety programs including annual reassessments with management teams
  • Develop & maintain facility HACCP plans
  • Manage and lead the efforts to maintain BRC certificate
  • Monitor adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Verify compliance to customer quality specifications through program documentation
  • Monitor and verify quality process controls
  • Provide problem solving skills with the use of data collection and interpretation
  • Conduct decision making with “panoramic view”, sensitive to extra-departmental implications and constraints
  • Work cooperatively with management team to ensure accomplishment of overall plant objectives
  • Promote positive team dynamics through consistent and effective feedback to all levels of the organization
  • Accountable for the compliance verification and implementation of the following responsibilities; food safety and regulatory requirements, quality systems, and product specification.
  • Plan and schedule teams for successful completion of necessary task objectives
  • Manage and supervise shift teams typically compromised of 6 to 8 employees
  • Other duties as required to perform position
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Generate reports and documents to sustain auditing, corrective actions, R&D efforts, export filing, and customers requests as needed
  • Verify product handling for production runs pertaining to export and process verified
  • Provide leadership to external auditing by implementing corrective actions and serving as point of contact to the following groups
  • Manage internal inspections for the following areas
  • Supervise sanitation of general welfare areas
  • Conduct program validation work through laboratory analysis
  • Investigate customer quality complaints and inquiries
  • Perform system food security tests through software traceability, yield investigations, partial packing, load procurement & shipment, and cold-chain verifications
  • Coordinate and maintain trend reporting and productivity data
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (continued):
  • Assist in manufacturing/shipping/receiving/administrative functions as needed
  • Establish and monitor productivity standards for team members
  • Facilitate a positive and productive work environment
  • Provide training necessary to continuously develop team members
  • Ensure adherence to all safety requirements
  • Communicate all quality & food safety issues with appropriate individuals
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies
  • Manage inventory of all related QA supplies
  • Supervise, evaluate, and ensure positive and compliant performance of subordinate employees
  • Perform administrative duties such as: time & attendance, disciplinary, performance evaluations, and training
  • Remain available and accessible to respond and address QA issues when necessary
  • Good attendance is a must and must be flexible to working different shift hours including weekends when necessary
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent industry experience) and a minimum of 3 years of hands‑on manufacturing experience with supporting courses of problem solving, and training BRC or GFSI audit experience
  • Ability to effectively develop subordinates through special training, coaching and exposure to new opportunities
  • Effectively communicate both in written and verbal form in English (Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus)
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Problem analysis and resolution
  • Decision making, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Exhibits leadership qualities, with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize to changing situations
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Time will be spent in an office environment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving, mechanical parts, and extreme cold temperature. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Cold Temperature: <40 F Cooler <0 F Freezer
