Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks an Environmental Services Manager to lead and optimize the facility's EVS operations, ensuring a clean, safe environment and supporting patient care.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets, collaborate with departments, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for waste handling, and drive continuous improvement using KPI metrics. This on-site role is in Bakersfield, CA and focuses on safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years in Environmental Services.
• One year in supervisory level experience managing and scheduling staff.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes performance reviews, scheduling, and staff hiring/retention.
• Collaborates with other departments, EOC, IP/IC committees.
• Evaluates and recommends environmental hygiene maintenance for new finishes prior to purchase.
• Manages departmental budgets including capital, projects, and supplies.
• Ensures regulated medical waste is handled, stored and disposed per regulations with documentation.
• Provides HR responsibilities for staffing, development, and corrective actions.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Manager, you will provide leadership, direction and management oversight for continuous improvement of the standard EVS operating model within the facility.
Every day, you will manage a highly equipped and engaged Environmental Services Team using evidence-based techniques, process and mission metrics (KPIs) to ensure we provide a clean safe environment as we help save lives.

• Completes performance reviews, disciplinary actions, scheduling, employee engagement survey action planning, interviewing, hiring and retention of staff.
• Collaboration with other departments, EOC, IP/IC committees.
• Evaluates and makes recommendations for environmental hygiene maintenance for new floor coverings, wall coverings, furnishings and interior finishes prior to purchase.
• Manages departmental budgets (e.g., capital, projects, supplies, operations).
• Ensures regulated medical waste is handled, packaged, stored and disposed of in accordance with federal and state regulations, and appropriate documentation is maintained.
• Manages the necessary and required resources for the environmental services department and provides recommendations for staffing levels, products and equipment. Completes all Human Resources responsibilities for interviewing, hiring, managing, staff development, corrective actions and / or staff engagement needs.
