Job Summary:

The Engineering Manager will manage and oversee the performance of the engineering staff for a variety of projects while ensuring QC and deadlines are met. An Engineering Manager will provide leadership, train, and mentor staff, subcontractors, and other parties. Standards and design requirements will be kept current and up to date.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Working on large-scale sized projects of advanced complexity.
  • Manage and oversee the performance of engineering staff for multiple projects.
  • Review project schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide QA/QC before plans are delivered.
  • Provide leadership to engineering staff.
  • Train and mentor staff, subcontractors, and others.
  • Maintain knowledge of current standards and design requirements.
  • Work with project management teams to ensure the project design is accurate before work commences.
  • Act as the main point of communication between engineers and Project Managers.
  • Prepare reports for upper management.
  • Use advanced techniques in the modification or extension of practices within OSP/ISP engineering.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

General

  • High school or equivalent education.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Subject to pre-employment drug test and MVR (Motor Vehicle Records) Report.
  • Ability to manage a large number of projects and capably prioritize them based on deadlines and importance.
  • Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy.
  • Superior time management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills; making assessments and providing solutions to problems.
  • Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and customers.
  • Provide superior customer service. Dedication to providing customer “White Glove Service.”
  • Possess advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to favorably interact with subordinates, peers, leadership, and clients.
  • Ability to sit for long periods.
  • Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods.

Technical

  • Advanced experience and knowledge of OSP and ISP engineering and construction techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of fiber networking, routing, and network management.
  • Experience with project management processes, tools, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with reproducible results.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • Experience working with Outside Plant Engineering in the following systems: AutoCAD, NDS, ARAMIS, Bluebeam, and/or customer-specific GIS software.
  • Prior construction experience.
  • Prior field experience.
