The successful candidate will combine strong calibration expertise with visible, inclusive people leadership. They will establish clear priorities, balance workload across programs, develop technical capability, and ensure the team delivers robust calibrations from early development through launch and production support.

What You’ll do
  • Set technical direction, priorities, staffing plans, workload balance, and execution expectations across the team.
  • Own delivery of controls and calibration content for assigned engine programs.
  • Drive execution across dyno, vehicle, virtual, prototype, validation, and production-support activities.
  • Ensure controls execution plans, requirements, test results, reviews, issue resolution, and release artifacts are complete, traceable, and delivered on schedule.
  • Partner with software, systems engineering, hardware, design release, emissions compliance, validation, vehicle program, manufacturing, service, warranty, and supplier teams.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical issues that may bridge multiple technical domains.
  • Represent the team in technical reviews, program reviews, calibration readiness reviews, Technical Resource Board discussions, and launch decision forums.
  • Establish and improve standard work, methods, metrics, and data-driven processes that increase calibration quality and reduce development cycle time.
  • Identify technical and execution risks early, create mitigation plans, and hold the organization accountable for commitments.
  • Build succession depth through mentoring, coaching, career development, technical assignments, and effective delegation.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, inclusion, collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Support the adoption of modern engineering methods, analytical tools, automation, and artificial intelligence where they improve calibration effectiveness and decision quality.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant progressive experience in engine controls (gas and/or diesel) or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, technical teams, or major cross-functional workstreams.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine controls and calibration.
  • Experience delivering calibration content that meets emissions, OBD, fuel economy, drivability, performance, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading work from requirements and development through test, calibration, release, launch, and production support.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing work, balance resources, manage risks, and deliver program milestones.
  • Strong written, verbal, technical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust, influence across organizational boundaries, and make timely decisions using data and engineering judgment.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
  • Experience with GM engine programs with controls and/or calibration.
  • Experience with emissions certification, compliance testing, OBD, regulatory documentation, and production-vehicle evaluation.
  • Experience with dyno and vehicle calibration, SIL/HIL, model-based controls, data analytics, and calibration automation.
  • Familiarity with structured problem solving, Design for Six Sigma, FMEA, Technical Resource Boards, warranty analysis, and launch readiness processes.
