Job summary

NEEP seeks a remote-first Manager to oversee research, tool development, and multi-stakeholder programs that advance energy efficiency and grid reliability across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. You will manage projects, external consultants, and budgets while convening advisory groups to guide strategy.

The role requires 5+ years in project management, energy efficiency, and stakeholder engagement; advanced degree is a plus. Remote-friendly with a 40-hour week and competitive salary.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressively senior experience in project management, energy efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Subject matter expertise in building energy efficiency and decarbonization, heating and hot water electrification, or related areas is a plus.
  • Demonstrated project management skills; accountability for deliverables and financial systems.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, disseminate, and interpret relevant industry data.
  • Ability to communicate program area strategy and activities.

Responsibilities

Job Duties/Responsibilities
A Day In The Life Of This Role

In this role, you will work with a wide array of NEEP stakeholders, including state energy offices, utilities, energy efficiency program administrators, manufacturers, distributors, contractors, consultants, and nonprofit organizations across the region to facilitate technology market transformation for buildings and industry. The Manager will lead research and tool development, manage projects, oversee external consultants, and track budgets. To inform these work products, the Manager will convene stakeholders through advisory groups and working groups. Priority technology areas currently include cold-climate heat pumps for space heating and cooling, high-efficiency water heating, building envelope measures, and more.

Qualifications
What We Need From You
  • 5+ years of progressively senior experience in project management, energy efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more of these areas preferred but not required: building energy efficiency and decarbonization (single family residential, multi-family residential, commercial building sectors), heating and hot water electrification, industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization, building envelope technologies, contractor workforce development.
  • Demonstrated project management skills; accountability for project deliverables and financial systems.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, disseminate, and interpret relevant industry data.
  • Ability to place NEEP within the industry and apply knowledge to strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate internally and externally.
  • Ability to develop budgets and track compliance for complex, multi-year grants.
  • Ability to communicate program area strategy and activities.
  • Strategic thinking and planning for program area.
  • Ability to support team members.

Applicants must reside in one of NEEP's 13 states/jurisdictions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia).

The salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, offering a range of $70,000 to $80,000 annually.

The position is exempt and scheduled 40 hours per week.
