The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for managing electrical engineering product design activities, contributing directly to the design of new products and revision of existing products. This position is also responsible for coordinating the interface with other departmental staff to ensure the best utilization of company resources and meeting the diverse needs of the company.
- Provide technical electrical engineering guidance and participate in product scope planning to meet specific marketing and product performance objectives.
- Direct and contribute to the design, engineering, and development of new products, and quality or cost improvements to current products.
- Provide professional design guidance and technical direction to electrical engineering staff to ensure optimum product designs that meet performance criteria, control costs, and are completed to the approved project schedules.
- Mentor and develop electrical engineering staff technical engineering skills, communication, and teamwork effectiveness.
- Participate in electrical engineering process development to match needs of overall product development teams. Define and document expectations and format for review content, test plans, and test report. Recommend changes as needed.
- Create and deliver annual performance appraisals for direct reports.
- Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and five (5) years of relevant experience. Knowledge of the new product development process and project management is required. Masters in Engineering Management preferred. Must be wiling and able to travel up to 3 days per month.
Excellent planning, organization, leadership, presentation, decision-making, and analytical skills. Must have strong communications skills, verbal and written. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Strong team focus and ability to work with others, both internal and external to the organization. Creativity and a propensity to change are also considered necessary traits for this position.
Physical Demand Requirements
Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel Requirements: 10% (3 days per month)
Compensation
If based in Illinois, this role has an annual salary range of $160,000-180,000. In addition to salary, you’re eligible for competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Klein Tools Inc. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including, but not limited to, skills, experience, and location.
