Job Summary/Objective:
(Purpose of the job)
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of the El Paso facility. This role is essential in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement through Southwire's Operational Perfection System (OPS) principles. The EHS Manager will lead initiatives to achieve zero recordable incidents, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and champion safety values such as OSHA VPP. This position requires a strong commitment to Southwire's core values of empowerment, trust, consistency, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
(List in order of importance; max 10 responsibilities)

  1. Safety Leadership: Lead and support the implementation of safety programs and initiatives aligned with Southwire's OPS culture, aiming for zero incidents.
  2. Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations, and serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies.
  3. Training & Development: Develop, implement, and sustain safety training programs for all employees, fostering a proactive safety culture.
  4. Hazard Prevention: Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify and eliminate safety hazards in the workplace.
  5. Environmental Stewardship: Oversee compliance with environmental regulations, including waste stream analysis and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  6. Incident Reporting & Analysis: Manage the reporting, investigation, and analysis of incidents and near-misses, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices, utilizing OPS principles to enhance performance.
  8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Plant Management, Manufacturing, Quality, HR, and other departments to integrate safety into all operations.
  9. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports, including air and water quality documentation.
  10. OSHA VPP Leadership: Promote and maintain OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) initiatives, ensuring the highest standards of workplace safety.
