Summary
The Manager, Freight Forwarding accounting Team position is responsible for overseeing Freight Forwarding financial close and accounting operations, managing revenue and cost recognition processes, driving financial analysis and profitability reporting, and ensuring effective accounts receivable, accounts payable, and compliance controls. The role partners closely with Freight Forwarding operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely issue resolution, and sound business decision support. Success in this role requires expertise in accounting principles, financial analysis, revenue recognition, ERP systems, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities for Freight Forwarding operations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely completion.
- Review and approve material journal entries, accounting adjustments, reconciliations, accruals, and financial result packages.
- Evaluate revenue recognition, cost matching, cutoff, and classification matters in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and company accounting policies.
- Review monthly financial performance, including revenue, direct cost, direct margin, operating expenses, and balance sheet movements.
- Analyze actual results against budget, forecast, prior month, and prior year, and ensure that material variances are properly explained and supported.
- Oversee balance sheet account integrity, including aged accruals, unbilled revenue, AR-related items, prepaid expenses, and other assigned accounts.
- Monitor billing, collection, working capital, and credit exposure matters and coordinate corrective actions with Operations and relevant departments.
- Lead monthly financial reviews with Freight Forwarding Operations and communicate key financial results, trends, risks, and required actions.
- Provide financial and accounting support for new customers, service offerings, pricing arrangements, contracts, and business initiatives.
- Assess the financial impact of operational issues, contract terms, claims, disputes, and other significant business matters.
- Prepare and present financial reports, analyses, and management presentations to the Senior Manager, HOD, and other management stakeholders.
- Manage, develop, and evaluate Supervisors and team members, including workload allocation, performance objectives, training, and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, SOX requirements, internal controls, approval authorities, and audit requirements.
- Establish corrective action plans for material control deficiencies, reporting issues, or recurring process failures.
- Lead annual budget, forecast, and business plan activities for assigned Freight Forwarding operations.
- Support internal and external audits and coordinate responses to significant audit findings.
- Lead process improvement, automation, reporting standardization, and accounting system enhancement initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects involving Operations, Sales, IT, Planning, Legal, Tax, and other Finance teams.
- Support accounting policy development and provide technical accounting guidance to the team.
- Perform other duties and strategic projects as assigned.
Compensation Range
$105,000 - $130,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Skills:
- Knowledge of financial accounting, revenue recognition, and month-end close processes.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, account reconciliation, and financial reporting practices.
- Skill in financial analysis, profitability reporting, variance analysis, and business performance evaluation.
- Skill in SAP or other ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate results within established deadlines.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- 7 - 10 years of experience relating to Financial Accounting and Reporting, Revenue and Cost Accounting, Month End Closing and Account Reconcilliation Required
- 8 - 13 years of experience relating to Financial Accounting and Reporting, Revenue and Cost Accounting, Month End Closing and Account Reconcilliation Preferred
- 1 - 3 years of supervisory experience Required
- 4 - 7 years of supervisory experience Preferred
- CPA, CMA, or CA Certification Preferred
