We are searching for the best talent for Manager, Distribution Network Strategy.

Candidates must already have authorization to work in the country of employment. Immigration sponsorship and relocation support are not available for this position. Candidates authorized to work pursuant to a short-term status (e.g., F‑1) who require future immigration sponsorship are not eligible.

Purpose: The Manager, Distribution Network Strategy, defines and advances the future global clinical supply distribution network in close partnership with IMSC Deliver, internal J&J stakeholders and Third‑Party Logistics providers (couriers and depot service). The role optimizes the end‑to‑end network by balancing patient service and supply reliability with inventory strategy, transportation, handling and storage costs, tax and duty optimization, compliance, risk, and resilience. It establishes fact‑based make‑versus‑buy recommendations across 4PL, 3PL, and internal J&J capabilities to create a scalable and resilient network.

You will be responsible for:

Network strategy and optimization: Develop and continuously optimize the global CSC distribution network strategy and roadmap.

Apply an end‑to‑end decision model that balances patient service, inventory positioning, lead time, transportation, handling, storage, tax and duties, compliance, risk, and resilience rather than optimizing individual cost elements in isolation. Lead structured evaluation of 4PL and 3PL options and, where J&J has or can build the required capability and capacity, assess internalization into the J&J network.

Develop business cases and recommendations based on total cost, inventory impact, service, scale, flexibility, data connectivity, compliance, tax implications, implementation effort, and business continuity.

Optimize the network from an end‑to‑end perspective, incorporating sourcing strategies for packaging and comparators alongside local and regional supply requirements.

Network governance: Establish, own and evolve a governance model; based on clear decision criteria defining lane standards. Define and own the governance framework and decision principles.

Enterprise and industry partnerships: Maintain a strategic relationship with IMSC Deliver and relevant J&J partners to identify shared capabilities, capacity, infrastructure, and operating‑model synergies. Build and sustain external peer relationships to benchmark network design, operating models, technology, service levels, and emerging industry practices.

Digital integration and order integrity: Partner with Digital Solutions to drive the Transcend Transformation. Define and implement integrations between SAP, IRT/IVR platforms and the logistics provider network to maintain order integrity, improve visibility, and minimize manual intervention in fulfilment.

Compliance, security, and inspection readiness: Partner with Quality and enterprise logistics functions to apply appropriate GxP, compliance, and security controls; support the Vendor Manager with health authority inspections and GxP audits; and enable supplier audit activities.

Cross‑functional decision leadership: Build strong partnerships across IMSC Deliver, Clinical Supply Chain Planning, Logistics, Quality, Procurement, Finance, Tax, Trade Compliance, Global Clinical Operations, and external providers to align assumptions, model trade‑offs, establish decision criteria, and translate network recommendations into executable plans.

Strategic initiatives: Sponsor and lead other strategic network, capability, process, and continuous‑improvement initiatives aligned with CSC priorities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, engineering, life sciences, business, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.

Minimum of 6 years experience in global logistics, distribution network strategy, procurement, supplier management, or clinical supply chain operations within a regulated life‑sciences environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of GxP requirements, temperature‑controlled distribution, logistics quality systems, business continuity, and global provider governance.

Proven ability to lead complex cross‑functional initiatives, manage significant external spend, influence senior stakeholders, and translate business needs into scalable network capabilities.

Experience with logistics technology, SAP, IRT/IVR integration, data‑driven performance management, and global inventory processes is preferred.

Project management experience is required, a project management certification (FPX, PMP,…) is preferred

Other requirements

Strategic and systems thinking with the ability to anticipate future network requirements and translate them into executable roadmaps.

Strong business and financial acumen, with sound judgement in balancing service, compliance, resilience, inventory, and cost.

Enterprise leadership, collaboration, and influencing skills across organizational, geographic, and cultural boundaries.

Decisive problem‑solving, effective escalation management, and accountability for sustainable outcomes.

Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and development of organizational capabilities.
