Job summary

Emeren Group Ltd. is seeking a Manager, Development to lead origination, development, and advancement of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects in the US pipeline. The role blends hands-on project management with building relationships with landowners, utilities, regulators, and internal teams.

You will report to the Director of Midwest Development, coordinating with engineering, legal, finance, and asset management, and travel up to 50% to support project development.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy project development, specific to solar PV and BESS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Environmental Studies or related field, graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a team and cross-functional project environments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in PJM and MISO.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience drafting material for C-Suite executives and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation development activities including real estate acquisition, discretionary permit, tax abatement negotiations, and community engagement.
  • Assess impacts and risks to the project development path, develop mitigation plans and communicate these impacts to pertinent parties.
  • Track and manage project real estate including land leasing efforts, title reports, ALTA surveys, etc.
  • Negotiate local tax abatements, road use, and decommissioning agreements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including landowners, utilities, regulators, consultants, and community representatives.
  • Monitor and mitigate project risks across technical, commercial, and regulatory areas.
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets and closely monitor project-level expenditures and invoice processing.
  • Support land acquisition efforts by developing strategies and managing land agents.
  • Manage engineering and construction efforts in coordination with internal and external subject matter experts and construction counterparts.
  • Collaborate in the negotiation of local tax abatements, road use, and decommissioning agreements to ensure alignment with modelled project economics.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to support project development activities.

About the position

The Manager, Development will support origination, development, and advancement of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects in Emeren's US pipeline. This role combines hands on project management and building strong relationships with landowners, utilities, regulators, and internal teams (engineering, legal, finance, and asset management). The newcomer will report to the Director of Midwest Development.

Required

  • Capacity to comprehend complex documents and effectively communicate project risks and impacts;
  • Self-starter with strong intercultural communication, organizational, and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to draft material to C-Suite level executives and external stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and associated applications including MS Project, Teams, Power BI;
  • Ability to learn new software as needed;
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time.
Preferred
  • Experience with Midwest regional markets, specifically, PJM and MISO
  • Familiarity with GIS tools, permitting databases, and interconnection modeling.
