Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a DC Operations Manager (2nd shift) to lead a 60–80 hourly workforce and 6–10 frontline supervisors, driving productivity, safety, and quality across inbound, replenishment, outbound, and transportation functions.

You will partner with the GM to develop strategies, coach leaders, and manage budgets while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and talent development in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience managing large teams in a fast-paced DC/logistics environment.
  • Experience with budget ownership and labor utilization analyses.
  • Strong communication and coaching abilities to develop Supervisors and hourly staff.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the GM to set and execute strategies to improve service, productivity and cost.
  • Direct leadership of 12–16 Supervisors and 60–80 hourly associates to meet targets.
  • Review staffing, labor utilization, and KPI performance with the GM; implement improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain departmental budgets and performance metrics.
  • Coach and develop leadership bench through regular feedback and evaluations.
  • Lead daily startup meetings to align workload and safety standards.
  • Monitor trends and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure OSHA and PPE compliance and promote a safe work environment.
  • Foster partnerships with transportation, customer service, and corporate teams.

DC Operations Manager (2nd shift)

Location: Reports To: General Manager

Position Summary:

The DC Operations Manager partners closely with the General Manager (GM) to develop and execute strategies that drive continuous improvement, enhance productivity, and reduce operational costs. This role is responsible for leading a high-performing team, fostering talent development, and ensuring operational excellence across one or more key areas of the Distribution Center (DC), including:

  • Inbound Operations (Receiving and Reclamation)
  • Replenishment
  • Outbound Operations (Selection, Shipping, PDQ, E-Commerce)
  • Transportation
  • Customer Service
  • General Office Administration

The DC Operations Manager will provide direct leadership to 6-10 frontline Supervisors and overall operational oversight for approximately 60-80 hourly Associates, ensuring productivity, safety, quality, and service goals are consistently achieved. Operating with limited supervision, this leader plays a critical role in sustaining organizational growth by attracting, retaining, developing, and engaging top talent while supporting career advancement opportunities across the operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the General Manager to develop and execute operational strategies that improve service levels, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Lead and develop a team of 12-16 Supervisors and 60-80 Associates, creating a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate regularly with the GM to review operational methods, staffing plans, labor utilization, and key performance metrics; recommend and implement improvements as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency, optimize labor resources, and reduce operational costs.
  • Maintain ownership of departmental budgets, staffing plans, and operational performance metrics.
  • Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and development for Supervisors and other leadership team members through regular feedback, performance evaluations, and succession planning.
  • Conduct daily start-up meetings with leadership teams to align on workload, staffing, productivity targets, safety expectations, and housekeeping standards.
  • Monitor and analyze key operational metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Foster strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, transportation teams, customer service, and corporate partners to support business objectives.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on employee engagement, retention, and professional growth.

Required Experience:

  • 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, distribution center, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Proven experience managing exempt and non-exempt teams in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams, including supervisors and hourly associates.
  • Strong background in material handling, inventory management, labor planning, and operational performance management.

Education & Skills:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze performance data and implement process improvements.
  • Proficient with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.

Position is eligible for bonus based on individual and group performance.
