Job summary

Vanguard seeks a Senior Data Science Leader to manage a team delivering diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics across marketing, supply chain, and economic research. This role shapes the strategy and evolution of Vanguard's data science capabilities, applying advanced techniques to uncover trends in large datasets to inform strategic decisions.

You will guide model design, ensure rigorous validation, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor staff while driving actionable insights

Qualifications

• Minimum five+ years related work experience in data science roles.
• Expertise in NLP, Generative and Agentic Solutions.
• Deep understanding of Transformer Architectures and experience in improving performance of Agents.
• Programming skills to access, transform and prepare large scale data for machine learning modeling.
• Experience utilizing statistical and machine learning methods.
• Experience in creating explainable ML solutions and attribution methodologies.
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related field of study or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Graduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and engages in deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making in conversational AI Projects.
• Manages a team of data scientists responsible for a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven business decision making.
• Identifies data inconsistencies and errors, documents data assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps.
• Engages with internal stakeholders to understand and probe business processes to develop hypotheses.
• Guides test design, research design, and model validation. Provides statistical consultation services.
• Executes operational plans to achieve department objectives and collaborates with department heads in planning and execution.
• Prepares, reviews, and delivers insight presentations and action recommendations to business leaders.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
• Designs and refines data mining architectures, analytical protocols, and statistical reporting methods to identify actionable trends.
• Applies advanced data science principles and emerging technologies to develop models informing strategic decisions across functions such as marketing, supply chain, and economic forecasting.
• Conducts research to evaluate cutting-edge analytics methodologies to enhance capabilities and maintain competitive advantage.
• Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew; provides guidance and training to develop crew; sets performance standards and compensation decisions.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversees and engages in deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making in conversational AI Projects. Creates alternative model approaches to assess complex model design and advance future capabilities.
• Manages a team of data scientists responsible for a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven business decision making. Supports the continuous evolution and strategy of Vanguard's data science capabilities.
• Identifiesand diagnoses data inconsistencies and errors, documents data assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps.
• Engages with internal stakeholders to understand and probe business processesin order todevelop hypotheses. Brings structure to requests and translates requirements into an analytic approach.
• Guidestest design, research design, and model validation. Provides statistical consultation services. Serves as the analytics expert on cross functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contributes to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.
