Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of our enterprise data architecture. You will own the data platform roadmap and collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architects on customer initiatives, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.

The role requires 10+ years in IT, hands-on cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), strong SQL and Python, and a deep understanding of TOGAF and data governance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
10+ years in an IT-related field.
3+ years leading data/architecture teams.
Hands-on with leading cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Experience with data governance policies, rules, and processes.
Familiarity with TOGAF and enterprise architecture frameworks.
Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines and IaC concepts.
Knowledge of data observability, monitoring, and alerting.

Job description

• Lead the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise data architecture
• Provide subject matter expertise on enterprise data management and analytics practices
• Lead data architecture design and enable data engineering solutions and tools
• Oversee data engineering teams and alignment of pipelines, transformations, and integrations with architecture and governance frameworks
• Enforce data governance processes and tools supporting data quality, literacy, security, and access
• Collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architects on Customer initiatives
• Own the performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and roadmap of the enterprise data platform
• Translate business needs into effective data architecture solutions with business stakeholders, product teams, and engineering
• Establish and manage conceptual, logical, and physical enterprise data modeling practices
• Define and enforce data standards across domains, including modeling, integration, metadata, and governance
• Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, and strategic planning
• Lead, mentor, and direct data architects and related roles
• Drive architectural best practices, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks and ensure long-term sustainability of data solutions
• Support analytics, machine learning, and AI use cases

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or services, related discipline, or equivalent experience in lieu of having a degree
10+ years of experience in an IT-related field
3+ years of experience building, managing and leading teams
Distributed delivery experience on large programs
Hands-on experience with at least one leading public cloud data platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience in data analysis, data modeling, and data visualization
Experience in data governance policies, rules, and processes
Strong presentation and communication skills
Strong understanding of the financial and regulatory environment in the Utilities industry
Deep understanding of modern data architecture patterns
Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling
Knowledge of integration patterns including CDC, streaming, APIs, and event-driven architecture
Familiarity with Fivetran, Informatica, MuleSoft, or similar platforms
Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar analytics engines
Understanding of storage, compute, and cost optimization strategies
Data management and governance expertise, including cataloging, classifications, compliance, and access control
Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines and infrastructure-as-code concepts
Knowledge of data observability, monitoring, and alerting
Experience implementing data quality checks and reliability frameworks
Intermediate proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, and Scala
Familiarity with cloud-based data management and analytics platforms
Cloud platform certification in AWS, Azure, or GCP
Must be available for emergency restoration assignments
Must be available to travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary
