Ohio State University is seeking a Manager of Cytology within the Department of Pathology to lead the Clinical Cytology Lab, overseeing daily operations, HR, budgeting, quality, safety, and compliance. You will supervise screening of gynecologic and exfoliative samples and train cytotechnologists in fine needle aspiration adequacy assessments.
Responsibilities include maintaining CAP education materials, credentialing data, and participating in departmental discussions on succession planning,
Functions as the Clinical Cytology Lab Manager within the Surgical Pathology Division in the Department of Pathology; leads and oversees daily operations, management and customer service within the clinical cytology laboratory; manages human resources, financial and budget planning and preparation, quality improvement, safety programs, compliance program, successful inspection and accreditation processes; ensures adherence to current policies and procedures related to technical, operational, and administrative areas of the laboratory. Performs all aspects of primary screening of gynecologic and exfoliative non-gynecologic patient samples; trains all cytotechnologists in fine needle aspiration service and adequacy assessment on touch prep biopsies; maintains all CAP required continuing education materials and participant documentation, oversees/maintains all monthly department statistics required by credentialing agencies; is included in many administrative discussions and decisions as a part of succession planning for the future.
