Job summary

Standard Chartered in New Jersey is seeking a skilled credit professional to appraise and approve lending facilities within delegated authority while ensuring compliance with Credit Policies and regulatory standards.

You will manage the day-to-day credit decisioning queue to meet turnaround times, exercise independent judgment to maintain portfolio quality, support collections onshore, and drive process improvements with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Appraising and approving lending facilities within delegated authority.
  • Ensuring compliance with Credit Policies, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Processing and approving facilities within delegated authority and supporting those outside the authority.
  • Managing the credit decisioning queue for timely processing and escalation as needed.
  • Identifying weaknesses, risks and opportunities for process improvement in the credit process.
  • Ensuring application processing meets set turn-around times.
  • Exercise diligence and good judgement to maintain portfolio quality with minimal delinquency.
  • Provide onshore support for Credit Collections activities.
  • Assist with inputs for developing risk operating models and strategic agenda.
  • Monitor and control risks, efficiency, effectiveness and quality of WRB Risk operations.
  • Propose and implement initiatives for standardization and automation.

Job description

  • Appraising and approval of applications for lending facilities falling within delegated authority.
  • Ensuring that Credit Policies and standards and other relevant Group/Regulatory policies/standards/stipulations are complied with and that all applications received are subject to these and the established processes and rules.
  • Processing and approval of lending facilities falling within delegated authority and supporting those outside the authority.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of credit decisioning queue for timely processing (including escalation where required) to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Identifying areas of weaknesses, risks and process improvement opportunities in the credit process and timely escalations to Manager and/or relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure application processing is within the set turn-around timeframes.
  • Exercise diligence, independence and good judgement in credit decision that will ensure quality portfolio with minimum delinquency and LI.
  • Provide onshore support for Credit Collections related activities
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time subject to no conflict with Credit authority policies.
  • Assist to provide inputs for developing risk operational model and shaping strategic agenda.
  • Responsible to ensure proper monitoring and control of risks, efficiency, effectiveness and quality of WRB Risk operations.
