Job summary

Shurtape Technologies, LLC seeks an experienced Corporate Project Engineering Manager to oversee large capital projects and to support plant engineers across the organization.

This role requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and extensive mechanical/electrical engineering expertise, focusing on cost, schedule, and project outcomes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering; PE preferred.
  • 8+ years in engineering project management and maintenance exposure.
  • Large equipment design experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects on time and within budget.
  • Supervise outside contractor personnel and ensure safety compliance.
  • Coordinate with plants for project transfer and documentation.
  • Provide mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering input.
  • Develop capital budgets and annual operating budgets with leadership.
  • Support New Product Development and process improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments to modify facilities or equipment.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Corporate Project Engineering Manager is responsible for providing support to all Shurtape business units. The Corporate Project Engineering Manager is primarily responsible for managing large or complex capital projects, supporting the individual plants' engineering staff with ongoing projects and assisting engineers and managers with technical projects or management issues. This position may provide assistance to manufacturing maintenance with equipment modifications, new equipment installations and documentation generation. Project management shall encompass all project facets from initial scoping of the project to successful commissioning, while ensuring that project budgets are not exceeded and project milestones are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage engineering projects as assigned to meet purpose and timing within budget
  • Supervise activities of all outside contractor personnel on projects, including assuring adequate contractor training and ongoing adherence to company practices
  • Work with individual plants to ensure that project completion and transfer of ownership is complete, including functionality of equipment, available drawings and work instructions, spare parts lists and training
  • Provide sound mechanical engineering, electronic and electrical engineering principles
  • Develops capital budget for assigned projects
  • Work with Corporate Engineering Director and others to establish annual operating and capital budgets
  • Develop thorough understanding of the materials and process components of assigned projects to assure optimization of quality and cost of intended outcome from project
  • Provide sound engineering input to develop strategies and tactics for future; participates in "what if" discussions
  • Participate or lead in activities which are intended to provide continuous improvement to the company's manufacturing operations
  • Support subsidiary companies with technical projects and/or issues
  • Work with other departments as necessary to plan seamless modifications to, or additions of, facilities and/or equipment
  • Serve on New Product Development teams to develop new or modified products
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Professional Engineering license preferred
  • 8+ years engineering project management and maintenance management exposure is a plus
  • Large equipment design experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication ability to express information across all levels of personnel inside and outside the company

  • Process Control and QA systems knowledge
  • Adhesive knowledge, release coat knowledge, backings properties and characteristics knowledge, and coating principles knowledge a strong plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The job requires significant time on a production floor and environment of 50 F to 100 F and considerable walking
  • Domestic travel may be required; possibility of international travel
  • No heavy lifting is typically required
