Job summary

Medline Industries, LP seeks an experienced inventory accounting lead to manage corporate inventory and product costing, ensuring GAAP compliance and end-to-end inventory reporting. You will drive process improvements, close activities, and support system enhancements across ERP platforms.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting with inventory focus, strong Excel skills, and CPA/CMA preferred. Expect collaboration with CFO, FP&A, and external auditors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years accounting experience; 3+ years inventory accounting.
  • ERP inventory accounting experience (SAP/Oracle/AS400) essential.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to coach staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory and product costing accounting ensuring GAAP compliance.
  • Prepare/approve monthly close data, journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Lead large projects: standard costing modernization and policy updates.
  • Advise on onboarding new entities from an inventory perspective.
  • Support system integrations and change management affecting inventory.

Job Summary

Lead and develop the Corporate Inventory and Product Costing Accounting team.
Process closing journal entries and account reconciliations ensuring US GAAP compliance; own inventory reporting from end to end.
Lead process improvements in inventory reporting and accounting as well as for internal controls and enablement/utilization of financial systems/ERP accounting and reporting.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the company’s inventory and product costing accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

  • Prepare and/or approve monthly close data, journal entries, and account reconciliation for inventory accounting/reporting. Analyze financials, interpret results and recommend a plan of action to improve the accounting process. Provide direct support to the business in assisting with understanding of complex inventory valuation mechanics.

  • Lead large-scale projects (ex. Standard costing modernization, inventory policy updates, system enablement/enhancements). Support internal financial close and external financial reporting.

  • Advise on the onboarding of new entities from an inventory standpoint; Support new business initiatives, system integrations, and other major change management impacting inventory accounting and related systems.

  • Represent Medline interests to internal and external parties (ex. CFO and divisional leadership interactions, FP&A partners, and presentations for leadership, sponsors, lenders, tax authorities, auditors, and other stakeholders). Assist with bridges for management to GAAP reporting for inventory. Provide inputs for variance capitalization for forecasting purposes.

  • Perform other ad hoc reporting, requests, and process improvements as needed for inventory accounting. Provide other supporting schedules as needed for tax or audit purposes.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Work Experience
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Experience applying advanced knowledge level of accounting practices and systems.

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and training staff.

Preferred Job Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Master’s degree in Accounting.

Certification / Licensure
  • CPA or CMA.

Work Experience
  • At least 3 years focused on inventory accounting.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Experience working in inventory accounting within an ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, AS400).

  • SAP, AS400, and Oracle experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience at a large, global manufacturer or distribution company, with significant inventory balances and high turnover.

  • Strong knowledge of inventory processes and controls.

  • Experience leading change management.

  • Experience leading projects.

The anticipated salary range for this position: $101,000.00 - $152,000.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
