Statement of the Job
A Store Manager oversees the convenience store and food operations of a truck stop according to company policies and procedures to ensure maximum sales and profitability. He/She supervises personnel within the store. We pay managers hourly, so get paid for what you work, rather than those other companies that abuse and put you on salary.
Primary Responsibilities
Have responsibility for the successful operation of the company store. Be able to perform all duties and responsibilities expected of any store associate and all other duties assigned or requested. Be responsible for meeting or exceeding store guidelines, including inventory, cash shortages, and budgeted hours. Develop and maintain a staffing schedule to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and store cleanliness within budget. Perform all administrative duties accurately and timely, including required reports. Follow all corporate cash procedures and enforce cash policies. Manage customer relations courteously and efficiently. Ensure store maintenance and report major equipment issues. Enforce all company policies and procedures, and adhere to local, state, and federal laws. Ensure store safety and proper stock levels. Monitor gasoline inventories and report discrepancies. Hire, train, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and terminate store personnel as needed. Attend manager meetings and training sessions, and conduct employee meetings. Communicate openly with management on important issues.
Starting pay is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour depending on experience. Typically, managers earn $50,000 to $100,000 annually. Higher pay may be available for advanced management experience. Earn an additional $.50/hour from midnight to 6 a.m. (see company policy). Performance reviews occur as early as 90 days, with annual reviews thereafter. Health insurance is available within 90 days. Benefits include vacation pay, overtime pay over 40 hours, annual bonuses based on store profits, and holiday overtime pay.
The manager's duties include ensuring high customer service and store appearance, and include tasks such as:
Physical requirements include frequent bending, reaching, lifting 1-15 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and moving quickly around the store. The store is accessible in all areas.
