Job Description

Are you an experienced Contracts professional passionate about supporting mission-driven innovation in the defense sector? Join our team as a Contracts Manager, where you’ll play a vital role in advancing cutting-edge prototyping projects that support national security and emerging technologies.

In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of Other Transaction (OT)-based projects, working closely with Performers and Department of Defense (DoD) customers to ensure compliance, transparency, and success throughout the project lifecycle. Reporting to the Director of Contracts, you’ll provide expert guidance and oversight across a range of dynamic initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, advising on complex technical and business matters that influence the R&D acquisition lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company, performers, and government customers—managing your project portfolio from kickoff to closeout.
  • Lead and support contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with legal requirements, federal acquisition policies, and internal procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and administer contracts and proposals, ensuring all documents are accurate, complete, and fully compliant.
  • Identify and assess contractual risk, monitoring for compliance across all tiers—including prime, performer, and sub-performer levels.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop tailored strategies, deliver training, and align contract services with customer mission goals.
  • Troubleshoot contract-related issues, providing prompt, well-supported recommendations and tracking resolution through implementation.
  • Create clear, high-quality documentation, including reports, correspondence, and presentations to support decisions and actions.
  • Analyze contract materials and agreement terms, conduct research, and deliver authoritative guidance on complex contract matters.
  • Maintain detailed and compliant contract records, supporting transparency and audit readiness.
  • Keep leadership informed of key updates across your portfolio, and provide mentorship and support to fellow team members.
  • Review and approve contract actions within your delegated authority.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or other advanced degree in relevant field of study such as Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of prior relevant contracting experience.
  • Possession of, or an ability to receive, SECRET-level clearance.
  • Deep understanding and practical experience with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and other relevant regulations and instructions.
  • Demonstrable analytical, communication (both written and verbal), and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Competence in negotiating terms and resolving conflicts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address challenges proactively.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadline-driven tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, regulations, policies, and project requirements.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in contract documentation and management.
  • An ability to analyze risk, make sound business judgments, and create meaningful strategies.
  • Strong proficiency with contract management software and tools, as well as general office software such as Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to Have

  • DAWIIA Level III, NCMA CPCM or equivalent certification.
  • Direct experience with Other Transaction agreements (10 U.S. Code § 4021 & 4022).
  • Previous signature authority or Contracting Officer/Agreements Officer warrant.
  • Experience briefing or presenting strategies to senior leadership and/or executive-level management.
