Job summary

CTDI is seeking a Manager, Construction and Capital Projects to lead complex construction and capital improvement programs from planning through closeout. You will act as the Owner’s representative, oversee procurement, safety, quality, schedule, and budget, and coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors across multiple sites.

Travel 40–75% is expected as you manage projects across North America, ensure on-time delivery, and enforce company standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of construction management experience.
  • Experience with industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

The Manager, Construction and Capital Projects is responsible for construction and capital improvement projects from initial planning and budgeting through bidding, construction, commissioning, and final closeout. This position serves as the Owner’s representative and oversees procurement, construction management, safety, quality control, schedule management, financial performance, and project turnover.

This Manager will manage multiple projects simultaneously across various geographic locations and must be willing to travel to construction sites to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Pre-Construction
  • Manage project development from concept through construction completion.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies, budgeting, site evaluations, and project schedules.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and stakeholders during design development.
  • Develop project scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies.
  • Identify project risks and establish mitigation plans.
Bid & Procurement Management
  • Prepare bid packages, scopes of work, and request-for-proposal (RFP) documents.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and compare contractor and vendor bids.
  • Lead contractor interviews and qualification reviews.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with contractors and suppliers.
  • Make award recommendations and manage contract execution.
Construction Management
  • Oversee all construction activities from mobilization through final completion.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress, safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, landlords, utility providers, and local authorities.
  • Monitor construction schedules and enforce milestone completion.
  • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Track project costs and maintain budget control throughout construction.
  • Resolve field issues, design conflicts, schedule delays, and contractor disputes.
Financial Management
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Review contractor pay applications and invoices.
  • Manage contingency expenditures and cost reporting.
  • Track allowances, change orders, and potential cost exposures.
  • Prepare executive reports regarding project financial performance.
Safety & Quality Control
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Enforce company safety standards and contractor safety programs.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Verify adherence to construction documents, specifications, and building codes.
Project Closeout & Turnover
  • Lead substantial completion and final acceptance processes.
  • Manage punch list development and completion.
  • Coordinate commissioning, testing, and certifications.
  • Collect warranties, as-built drawings, operation manuals, and maintenance documents.
  • Ensure all permits, inspections, and regulatory approvals are finalized.
  • Facilitate turnover to operations, facilities, or ownership teams.
Reporting & Communication
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and records.
  • Conduct project meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Prepare project status reports addressing schedule, costs, risks, and milestones.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 5+ years of construction management experience.
  • Experience managing industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, or capital improvement projects.
  • Proven experience managing projects from bidding through closeout.
  • Experience with contractor procurement and multi-site project management.
Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or equivalent project management platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil, structural, and MEP drawings.

  • Travel Requirement: 40–75% overnight travel depending on project locations and workload.
