Job summary

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) seeks an experienced manager to lead three Materials Testing Units: Entry Prep, Soils Testing and Concrete Testing on highway projects. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving concrete mix designs, developing and updating NMDOT specifications for soils and concrete, and coordinating with private labs and district labs across six districts.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in engineering, PE licensure and has eight years of engineering

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline with licensure and eight years of engineering experience.
Four years as a Licensed Professional Engineer and two years in supervisory/managerial role.
Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

Management and supervision of three Materials Testing Units: Entry Prep, Soils Testing and Concrete Testing.
Review and approve all concrete mix designs for NMOT construction projects.
Develop and modify NMDOT specifications and special provisions regarding soils and concrete materials and testing for construction.
Works closely with private testing labs and district labs to ensure they adhere to AASHTO resources and NMDOT specs.
Works closely with Bridge Design, Foundation Design, and all six districts in the development of projects as it relates to soil and concrete specifications and plans.
