We are seeking a strategic
Manager, Communications to lead the development and execution of internal and external communications that support Terra-Gen’s operating and development goals. This individual will play a key role in communicating our achievements, priorities, and values to a range of stakeholders including employees, business partners, and the communities where we operate.
This position will oversee the creation of compelling content and communication materials—ranging from project announcements and press releases to internal announcements and executive communications. The Manager will also manage external agencies and consultants to ensure high-quality, on-brand communications are delivered on time and in alignment with Terra-Gen’s standards. Event coordination for both internal and external stakeholders is also a critical part of this role, requiring strong project management skills, attention to detail, and flawless execution.
This role works cross-functionally with Terra-Gen’s Finance, Project Development, Asset Management, Operations, and EHS teams to ensure communications are informed and meet objectives. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and storyteller, creative content producer, and thoughtful communicator who understands the importance of reputation management.
This is a newly created, full-time remote position, ideally based in
Southern California. The role involves regular travel to company facilities in
Kern County and
San Bernardino County, with occasional travel to additional sites in
California, Texas, and New York. Estimated travel requirement is up to
25%.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)
- Develop and execute communication strategies in collaboration with company leadership and key stakeholders to support customer, employee, and stakeholder engagement, as well as issue and crisis response.
- Develop and manage company communications, including internal messaging, media relations, video and photo content, project information, social media, executive preparation for interviews and conferences, and event-related communications.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communication materials.
- Coordinate and manage communication initiatives to maintain consistency in brand, voice, and image.
- Serve as the corporate spokesperson and respond to media inquiries; issue press releases and maintain relationships with key media partners.
- Act as Public Information Officer (PIO) or Deputy PIO in crisis environments.
- Assist in crafting compelling narratives to enhance the company’s reputation in coordination with other departments.
- Develop communications strategies to highlight Terra-Gen’s ethical, environmental, and social responsibility commitments.
- Manage content across the company’s corporate website, intranet, and social media platforms; regularly update and improve web presence.
- Expand and oversee Terra-Gen’s digital presence, including content development and performance tracking for platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter).
- Coordinate company-sponsored events, including logistics, communications, and guest management.
- Support community relations efforts, as requested.
- Develop, improve, standardize, and manage communication workflows to ensure consistent execution and alignment with leadership expectations; collaborate cross-functionally across departments.
- Oversee and coordinate the communications budget.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of communications using relevant KPIs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 7-years relevant professional experience.
- Exceptional work ethic and autonomy, capable of thriving in an independent environment and consistently delivering high-quality work without close supervision.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Advanced technical proficiency with strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and professional-grade graphic design, video editing, scheduling, and slide design tools.
- Individuals must be able to perform all the duties and responsibilities listed in a fully competent manner to be considered successful in the job.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Knowledge of the electricity industry.
- Must be highly adaptable, comfortable with managing evolving priorities, and resilient to change.
- Ability to work occasional non-traditional work hours (nights and weekends) as needed. for emergency and crisis communications.
- Familiarity with environmental and social responsibilities concepts (preferred).
Communication Skills
- Experience in creating and editing corporate and financial communication, including press releases, Q&A's and videos on all corporate matters, crisis communications and scripts for senior executives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, writing, editing and project management skills.
- Demonstrated capability to work with senior leaders and manage relations with key internal and external stakeholders on communication opportunities and business issues.
Reasoning Ability & Decision-making Skills
- Ability to multi-task and quickly prioritize projects and work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Proficient at grasping complex technical concepts and translating them into clear, understandable communications for diverse audiences and plain language explanations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
- Ability to comfortably lift up to 50lbs and ability to maneuver in steep grades and muddy conditions. Travel to projects and overnight stays
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Travel required up to 25% (mileage reimbursements based on the current federal mileage rate).
- Ability to work in challenging terrain and/or during inclement weather.

The posted compensation is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This salary range may also be modified in the future, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
