Job summary

The New York Times Company, via Wirecutter, seeks a Manager of Commerce Partnerships to proactively manage affiliate relationships and drive revenue growth. You will negotiate rates, renewals, and launches, and monitor performance with cross-team collaboration.

You will analyze results, optimize programs, and present findings to Commerce and Advertising leaders. This role reports to Wirecutter’s Director of Commerce and carries a strong emphasis on independent journalism and audience trust.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in affiliate marketing and data analysis, with a strong preference for experience with commerce content strategies and optimization tactics
  • 1+ year of experience with affiliate networks (Impact, CJ, Rakuten, AWIN, etc.)
  • 1+ year of experience with proactive client-side relationship management and presentations

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management and execution of our affiliate relationships across a portfolio of affiliate merchants with an eye towards reaching affiliate revenue and EPC goals
  • Communicate upsides and headwinds to Commerce team leaders
  • Work with the Commerce and Advertising teams to identify merchant relationship objectives and collaborate together to identify new merchant and category level merchandising opportunities
  • Educate network and agency representatives on Wirecutter’s value proposition and requirements for a successful partnership
  • Coordinate with the Commerce Optimization team lead on the execution of our merchant optimization strategies
  • Work with Commerce team leaders and the Senior Editor of Deals on collaborative deal strategies to bring deals on Wirecutter Picks to our readers (curated deals, blogs, deal event weeks)
  • Oversee the managed portfolio’s reconciliation of payments with the Senior Manager, Commerce Operations
  • Attend affiliate conferences throughout the year
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of ourvalue of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
  • You will report to Wirecutter’s Director of Commerce

About the Role

The Manager of Commerce Partnerships proactively builds and manages merchant relationships, with a focus on driving revenue growth. You will include negotiate rates and flat spend, renewals, and manage all phases of partnership launches and ongoing maintenance. You will track performance, produce reports, analyze results, and optimize programs to maximize impact. You will work with Advertising and Marketing teams, implementing partnership strategies from a Commerce perspective that support Wirecutter’s revenue goals.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in affiliate marketing and data analysis, with a strong preference for experience with commerce content strategies and optimization tactics
  • 1+ year of experience with affiliate networks (Impact, CJ, Rakuten, AWIN, etc.)
  • 1+ year of experience with proactive client-side relationship management and presentations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and managing media plans in the context of advertising campaigns
  • Experience in a leadership capacity (Manager or indirectly as a team lead), responsible for delegating tasks, setting priorities, and driving team alignment to achieve project goals.
  • Experience in account management, collaboration, and relationship building

The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$100,000–$125,000USD

For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
