Job summary

The role encompasses hands-on Biomedical Technician support as needed and requires collaboration across multiple sites within the MedStar Health system.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or actively pursuing one.
  • 3-4 years of progressively responsible management experience.
  • CBET/CHTM certification upon hire or actively pursuing within 2 years.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and regulatory accreditation requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of management and external agencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, independent judgment, business acumen, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Clinical Engineering department.
  • Supervise and develop staff; manage staffing and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards; support budgeting and resource management.
  • Participate in planning, budgeting, and acquisition of clinical capital equipment.

Job description

The Clinical Engineering Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Engineering department under the general direction of the Director or Vice President of Clinical Engineering. This role is responsible for managing department operations, supervising and developing staff, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, and supporting departmental budgeting and resource management. The manager also contributes to the planning, budgeting, and acquisition of clinical capital equipment and serves as a Biomedical Technician as needed to support the delivery of safe, reliable patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in related field or must be actively pursuing Associate's degree
  • 3-4 years 3 years of progressively more responsible job-related or management experience. required
  • CBET - Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician CHTM or CBET Upon Hire required or
  • must be actively pursuing and obtain CHTM or CBET within 2 years required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency's accreditation requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management internal departments and external agencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Business acumen and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software applications.
  • Ability to travel between sites as necessary.
