Job description

AmTrust Financial Services, a fast-growing commercial insurance company, has an immediate need for a Workers' Compensation Claims Manager. The Workers' Compensation Claims Manager is responsible for supervising activities within the workers' compensation lost time claims department. This may include supervising administrative tasks and staff or overseeing the investigation of insurance claims involving workers' compensation, property, or casualty claims based on coverage, appraisal, and verifiable injury or damage. This position involves handling tasks and/or claims directly in addition to supervising staff. The WC Claims Manager reports to the WC Director.

This will be a hybrid position based out of our Scottsdale, AZ office.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee handling of all aspects of claims assigned to the unit, including reserving, communication, documentation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement.
  2. Ensure all claims, whether eligible or ineligible for payment, meet quality, production standards, and specifications.
  3. Ensure claim processing aligns with applicable policies, procedures, and department guidelines.
  4. Analyze and approve workers' compensation claims.
  5. Conduct regular quality audits of staff work, record results, and counsel staff to meet or exceed standards.
  6. Prepare periodic reports and monitor system reports to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
  7. Establish and implement controls to maintain or improve work quality.
  8. Review and analyze processes, procedures, and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
Qualifications
  1. 10+ years' experience in the workers' compensation insurance industry, handling California claims.
  2. Valid adjusters license in appropriate jurisdictions or ability to obtain one.
  3. Experience specifically in California jurisdiction.
  4. Proven success in managing claim professionals.
  5. Strong leadership skills.
  6. Ability to develop partnerships.
  7. Technical knowledge of workers' compensation policies, coverages, and exposures.
  8. Experience managing catastrophic injuries proactively.
  9. Ability to analyze data and communicate trends effectively.
  10. Decision-making skills that positively impact change.
  11. Comprehensive knowledge of claim procedures, technology, laws, and regulations.
  12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  13. Ability to mentor staff and promote positive claim performance behaviors.
  14. Professional demeanor and interpersonal skills.
  15. Ability to prioritize and multitask in a team environment.
  16. Willingness and ability to travel.
  17. SIP certification where required.
