American National is seeking a Claims Manager to join our dynamic MedPay/PIP team. The role is responsible for the direct oversight of a team of first party injury Claims Specialists handling claims across multiple jurisdictions, supporting and developing high standards in claims handling and customer service.

What will you do?
  1. Lead and manage the claims team in claim handling, including coverage, processing, and paying medical bills appropriately. Conduct file reviews, coverage analysis, and decision making.
  2. Monitor expense management and claim payments, ensuring timely processing within state regulations.
  3. Promote adherence to company policies and best practices in claims handling.
  4. Champion exceptional customer service standards.
  5. Support professional correspondence related to claims, including medical authorizations, attorney acknowledgments, and denials.
  6. Ensure compliance with state regulations and statutes in billing, delaying, or denying claims.
  7. Provide ongoing training, coaching, and talent management, including hiring, retention, and performance reviews.
  8. Review open and closed claims and validate audits by the QI Department.
  9. Create a positive work environment fostering teamwork and accountability.
  10. Participate in process development and claims strategy projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Five years of MedPay/PIP claims handling experience in multiple jurisdictions, with knowledge of insurance coverages, claims processes, and regulations.
  • Motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Current state adjuster license or willingness to obtain it post-hire (fees covered by American National).
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Mitchell Platform or similar bill review vendors.
  • Management, mentorship, or training experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field; certifications like AIC, CPCU are a plus.
  • Technical skills in Guidewire or similar claims management systems.
