Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services Inc. in the United States seeks a Claims Manager for the Transportation Department to lead a team handling Commercial Auto and Motor Carrier bodily injury claims.

The role includes coaching, coverage and liability guidance, and settlement strategy across multiple states. The position requires multi-state experience with a preference for office attendance; remote work may be available based on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of team leadership experience in liability insurance claims.
• Minimum of five (5) years of bodily injury claims experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Valid claims adjuster’s license in appropriate jurisdictions or ability to obtain such.
• Multi-jurisdictional expertise.
• Thorough understanding of tort and contract laws, principles of coverage, and liability insurance in general.
• Ability to manage a diverse group of claims professionals located in multiple offices.
• Ability to mentor, train, and be a leader within the organization.
• Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and develop direct reports.
• Ability to synthesize and draw conclusions from large amounts of data; translates the data into actions and results.
• Demonstrates drive and ambition to achieve goals and outstanding results.
• Embraces changes; invites feedback related to performance and deals constructively with criticism.

Responsibilities

• Owns the development and performance of Commercial Auto and/or Motor Carrier claims teams, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of bodily injury claims.
• Assigns new claims to team members based on complexity and staff skill set.
• Oversees reserving, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims.
• Ensures customers receive quality service and advocates claims customer service excellence by understanding the customer experience.
• Performs regular manager reviews and quality audits to ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
• Participates in claims roundtable discussions on coverage, liability and damages assessments.
• Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and performance.
• Creates an environment that ensures transparency, accountability, training, and development.
• Prepares periodic reports and monitors system reports for adherence to standards.
• Reviews processes/workflows to identify efficiency improvements.
• Other tasks as assigned by AVP/VP.
• Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.

Overview

AmTrust Financial Services, a fast-growing commercial insurance company, is currently seeking a Claims Manager in our Transportation Department. This position requires previous supervisory experience. The successful candidate will supervise a team of claims professionals handling Commercial Auto and/or Motor Carrier bodily injury claims, including coaching and technical development of their direct reports on coverage, liability investigation, evaluation of damages, settlement strategy and litigation management. These claims arise in various jurisdictions throughout the country and, as such, experience in multiple states is required. This position will require hybrid attendance in an AmTrust location with the possibility of remote work for those not within commutable distance to an office.

Note, preference will be given to candidates who can work from the office; however, remote arrangements may be available based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Owns the development and performance of a Commercial Auto and/or Motor Carrier claims teams, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of commercial liability bodily injury claims of moderate to high complexity and/or severity.


• Assigns new claims to team members based on complexity and skill set of staff.


• Oversees the handling of all aspects of the claims assigned to the team including reserving, communication, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, negotiation and settlement.


• Ensures that all customers receive quality service and advocates claims customer service excellence by building an understanding of the customer experience that meets and exceeds stakeholders’ expectations.


• Completes regular manager reviews and quality audits of claims to ensure work meets or exceeds standards and that claims processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures and department guidelines.


• Regularly participate in claims roundtable discussions focusing on claims issues surrounding coverage, liability and assessment of damages.


• Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and performance.


• Create an environment that ensures transparency, accountability, training, and development.


• Prepares regular periodic reports and monitors system reports to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.


• Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.

The expected salary pays up to $130,000/year.
