The Manager of Inpatient Coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant clinical documentation and coded data across inpatient services. This role oversees daily coding and CDI operations, establishes performance standards, and ensures alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational goals. The manager partners closely with physicians, nursing, revenue cycle, compliance, and informatics teams to drive documentation integrity, optimize reimbursement, reduce denials, and enhance the quality and reliability of clinical data. Serves as a critical dyad partner with the organizations CDI Physician Champion. This position is responsible for leading staff development, education, and performance management; advancing physician engagement and documentation improvement efforts; and leveraging data analytics to monitor key metrics such as coding quality, case mix index, and query effectiveness. The manager ensures adherence to federal and payer requirements, supports audit readiness, and leads continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen both financial outcomes and clinical data integrity across the organization.
