Position Overview

Principal Mineral is building a scalable finance organization to support continued growth, operational performance, and an active acquisition strategy. The Manager, Business Unit Finance will be a key financial partner to the leadership teams of two operating businesses: Camden Copper and Conductive.

In this hands‑on role, you will bring financial discipline, insight, and accountability to support businesses that are continuing to build their financial infrastructure. You will own core planning and analysis activities while partnering closely with operations and commercial leaders to improve performance, strengthen cash flow, and support smarter capital allocation.

You will have significant visibility and an opportunity to help shape how finance operates within a growing, acquisition-oriented company.

Key Responsibilities
Business Finance & Performance
  • Serve as the primary finance partner to Camden Copper and Conductive business leaders.

  • Lead analysis of revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, EBITDA, working capital, and cash flow.

  • Translate financial results into clear insights, risks, and recommended actions for business leadership.

  • Develop and maintain reporting that provides visibility into key operational and financial drivers.

  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, productivity, working capital, and cash generation.

Planning & Forecasting
  • Lead the annual budget and rolling forecast processes for the businesses.

  • Build financial models and scenario plans to support business decisions.

  • Partner with operations and commercial leaders to understand assumptions and key business drivers.

  • Monitor performance versus budget and forecast; lead follow-up on material variances.

Cash, Capital & Investment
  • Own weekly cash flow forecasting and ensure strong working‑capital visibility.

  • Partner with business leaders on key cash drivers including accounts receivable, inventory, purchasing, and related activities.

  • Evaluate capital investment opportunities and develop financial analyses to support investment decisions.

  • Track approved capital projects and monitor expected financial returns.

Accounting & Financial Processes
  • Partner with and manage the day‑to‑day activities of the business bookkeepers.

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly close and financial reporting.

  • Establish appropriate financial processes, controls, and reporting standards.

  • Improve the quality, consistency, and usefulness of financial information produced from the existing QuickBooks environment.

Finance Transformation & Growth
  • Help build scalable finance processes as Camden Copper and Conductive grow.

  • Support integration of future acquisitions into the company’s reporting and planning processes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting, and financial workflows.

  • Support broader corporate FP&A and finance initiatives as needed.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, business finance, operational finance, or a related role.

  • Experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial business preferred.

  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to understand operational drivers and translate them into financial results.

  • Strong communication and business‑partnering skills, with the ability to work directly with operating leaders.

  • Comfortable in a hands‑on, entrepreneurial environment where processes and systems are still developing.

  • High ownership, curiosity, and willingness to dive into details.

  • Experience with ERP, planning, or financial reporting systems; QuickBooks experience helpful but not required.

Leadership Profile
  • Transaction oriented: moves complex matters from concept to execution, including signed documents and funded outcomes.

  • Commercially creative: understands a range of capital and risk‑management tools and combines them into practical solutions.

  • Operationally grounded: tests models against technical realities, implementation capacity, and delivery conditions.

  • Outcome accountable: seeks measurable results such as projects advanced, risks reduced, and returns realized.

  • Independent and collaborative: can drive a workstream while knowing when executive or operational decisions are needed.

  • Risk disciplined: identifies downside exposure, structural weaknesses, and execution risk early.

  • Clear and candid: communicates tradeoffs and uncertainty in straightforward terms.

  • Hands on: comfortable building models, reviewing documents, supporting diligence, negotiating details, and resolving execution issues.
