Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with over 10,000 entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals in over 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work—guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity—are why our people love working at A&M.

How you will contribute

Through continued growth comes more demand for business insights and data used to make objective decisions. To support this need, helping maintain operational efficiency and leverage our data assets to gain insights and drive decision making, A&M has invested in growing its Business Intelligence Unit. The BIU creates new data pipelines, constructs analysis, builds visualization tools that deliver real-time information and insights to the business, and helps the business realize operational efficiencies identified in analysis.

The firm is now looking for a Manager to join its Analytics, Reporting and Tools team. This role will provide both technical leadership and hands-on delivery, combining expertise in data analytics with strategic direction and mentorship. The successful candidate will lead a section of the team, oversee key projects, and contribute directly to technical development while collaborating with senior stakeholders to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. The role is based in our New York City office and requires a hybrid work schedule of two to three days in office.

The successful applicant will work across global practice areas, including Private Equity Performance Improvement, Corporate Transformation, Disputes & Investigations, and Financial Services Advisory, to drive efficiency, optimize processes, and create new opportunities for growth through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts, fostering professional development and ensuring high-quality technical outputs.
  • Drive strategic direction in analytics, ensuring data-driven insights align with business objectives and generate measurable impact.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to identify business challenges and translate them into data solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to develop and implement new data tools and automation solutions.
  • Keep up with the latest trends in data analytics, AI, and machine learning, applying them to solve business problems.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI, Python, and SQL.
  • Design and implement data models, pipelines, and automation solutions to improve efficiency and streamline reporting.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to uncover trends, improve performance, and drive cost efficiencies, revenue growth, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity by maintaining high standards for data governance and quality control.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Strong leadership experience, with a track record of managing and mentoring technical teams.
  • Hands-on experience with data transformation, analytics, and visualization using SQL, Python, and Power BI.
  • Proven ability to develop scalable data solutions that drive business impact.
  • Deep understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques, with experience applying them in a business setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset; not afraid to challenge the status quo and drive innovation.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 + years experience in a data analytics or business intelligence role, including managerial responsibilities.
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, and Power BI, with experience building scalable analytics solutions.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with business, finance, and IT teams to deliver data-driven improvements.
