  • Ensure regulatory compliance related to vendor management, continuity, and insurance including NCUA guidance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to integrate objectives into broader goals.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on effectiveness, risk, and improvements.
  • Advance process improvements and automation using technology and the GRC system.
  • Provide assistance to the VP of Enterprise Risk Management as required.
  • Serve as SME on regulatory initiatives and guidance for vendor management and continuity.

Job Description:

The Manager, Business Continuity + Vendor Management is responsible for the strategy, design, and day-to-day administration and management of the credit union’s vendor relationships, business continuity planning, and insurance programs. This role ensures compliance with regulations and regulatory guidance, mitigates risks to the credit union, and manages seamless integration of processes to protect the organization’s assets and deliver value to members. This role will serve as a key liaison between employees, vendors, and leadership, ensuring high levels of service in a highly regulated and performance focused environment.


Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive vendor management program, including vendor selection, due diligence, contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and ongoing due diligence assessments.
  • Facilitate the business continuity planning process, ensuring robust strategies are in place for disaster recovery, crisis management, and operational resilience.
  • Facilitate regular reviews, testing, and updates to business continuity plans with business units.
  • Manage the credit union’s insurance portfolio, including property, liability, and specialty coverages. Collaborate with brokers and carriers to assess risks, secure appropriate coverage, and oversee claims processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to vendor management, business continuity, and insurance, including NCUA and IDFI regulations, guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to integrate vendor, continuity, and insurance objectives into broader organizational goals.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on program effectiveness, risk exposures, and improvement opportunities.
  • Advance process improvements and automation using technology, reporting, and employee self-service tools, including administration and management of the GRC system, primarily the vendor and business continuity modules, and others as may be integrated from time to time.
  • Provide assistance to the Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management as required.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource on regulatory and compliance initiatives for vendor management, business continuity and insurance, providing guidance to business units on the interpretation and application of regulatory requirements and related guidance.
  • Assist in identification of training courses that address relevant regulatory compliance on an ongoing basis and as risks emerge.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements through ongoing professional development, including participation in workshops, webinars, conferences, meetings, and review of relevant industry literature.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of the credit union.

Knowledge/ Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and expectations around managing vendor relationships, third- and fourth-party risk management, business continuity planning, and insurance program management.
  • Savvy management of the organization’s GRC system, understanding and exploiting the system’s capabilities while continuously pursuing greater efficiencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Effective leadership capability, including coaching, mentoring and developing a team.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience in vendor management, business continuity, and/or insurance within the financial services sector.
  • 2+ years management or leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, risk management frameworks, and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and build collaborative relationships across departments.
