Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Manager for Building Automation System (EBAS) at the Main Campus. This role provides strategic leadership for the enterprise BAS program, ensuring safe, reliable operation across all locations and coordinating with Facilities Engineering-Operations and IT.

The ideal candidate will oversee a multidisciplinary team, develop standards, and align with design, safety, and quality objectives to support a high-reliability environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or eight years of facilities management experience.
• Four years as a fully qualified tradesperson or technician in applicable area.
• Two years of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Niagara certification on hire or within one year.
• Deep working knowledge of NFPA, CMS, Joint Commission and state/local regulations.

The Manager, Facilities Programs provides strategic leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight for the enterprise-wide Building Automation System (BAS) program, ensuring the safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant operation of building automation systems across the Cleveland Clinic enterprise.

This role leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for BAS program support, establishes and maintains enterprise standards, policies, and technical guidelines, and partners with Buildings + Design, Safety & Quality, Information Technology, and operational leadership to optimize system performance, promote standardization, ensure regulatory compliance, and support a high-reliability environment across all domestic and international locations.

A caregiver in this position works days Monday – Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with availability for on-call emergency situations.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Manage multidisciplinary technical staff, responsible for developing and training.
• Develop and implement standards, procedures, and quality assurance programs for new hospitals and ambulatory buildings, renovations and capital projects, and international expansion.
• Coordinate with cross functional committees and internal stakeholders to ensure consistency and systems across all markets, hospitals, and ambulatory facilities.
• Develop enterprise technical roadmap for facilities program: BAS (controls, HVAC automation, energy management) or FLS (fire alarms, suppression, egress, life safety systems).
• Advise the Design team on compliance, technical and applicable regulatory requirements for inclusion in design standards. Actively participate in design reviews, ensuring project coordination and technical alignment with facilities program for new builds and renovations.
• Oversee inspections, testing, and maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable operations and adherence to applicable codes and standards (National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Joint Commission (JC), and state/local building codes) as applicable.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of system performance, documentation, and compliance with preventive maintenance programs, as required.
• Coordinate with site leadership to identify and plan infrastructure recapitalization projects for inclusion in the financial forecast. Manages program budget.
• Develop business requirements, provides input on qualified suppliers for proposals, and evaluates vendor performance.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’s degree or eight years of experience in facilities management
• Four years of experience as a fully qualified tradesperson or technician in respective area of responsibility (i.e., electrical, plumbing, or applicable area)
• Two years of previous supervisory or managerial experience or demonstration of formal education in business management
• Niagara certification upon hire or within one year of hire
• Deep working knowledge of NFPA, CMS, Joint Commission, and state/local regulations

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certification as a Certified Safety Healthcare Professional (CHSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
• Working knowledge of regulatory codes as applied in health institutions
• Healthcare and multisite facilities management experience
• Experience with MS Office, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and programs associated for tracking with a CMMS system

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
• Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Ability to operate a computer or other office equipment.
• Ability to travel throughout the system.
