Manager, Behavioral Health Technician

Job Type: Full Time | Varied

How you'll contribute
  • Manage the daily operations of the assigned department or function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee the acquisition and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Foster a professional, growth‑oriented environment, ensuring the department maintains its critical role in the continuum of care, serving both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan and review work, ensuring quality standards, and manage hiring, training, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and terminations, while maintaining regular and reliable attendance to support consistent leadership.
  • Directly responsible for managing 100+ BHTs who observe and maintain a safe milieu through patient checks and safety monitoring, ensuring compliance with patient observation protocols (15‑minute checks, line‑of‑sight, or one‑on‑one monitoring as ordered).
  • Focus on development, training, and treatment of behavioral health patients across multiple populations.
Essential Functions
  • Assist with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Manage staff relations, including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
  • Perform and oversee scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagement.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Determine and justify needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitor usage, and oversee proper working order and stock supplies.
  • Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Ensure the department remains focused on its important role in the continuum of care.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Serve both internal co‑workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Apply policies and procedures skillfully.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards.
  • Hire, terminate, train and develop staff; review performance and administer corrective action.

What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, business administration, or related field from an accredited school required.
  • Three years of behavioral health experience required.
  • One year of leadership/management experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • De‑escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
