MANAGER - AQUATIC PROGRAMS

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Reporting to the Director, Continuing Education, the Manager -Aquatic Programs is responsible for managing the operations of a college’s aquatic / pool facility and the associated programmingoffered to students and the community, with an emphasis onproviding a safe, well-maintained, and adequately staffed swimmingpool and aquatic program environment that supports CCC’sinstructional and wellness goals. Performs related duties asrequired.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversees the daily operations of the Aquatic Center and ensuresthe safety of swimming pool patrons by developing and implementingoperating procedures and ensuring staff are properly trained incurrent safety, emergency response, and security protocols.
- Conducts regular safety and maintenance inspections of pool,equipment and facility in partnership with Engineering to identifyhazards and maintain a safe environment for patrons.
- Works with supervisor and college staff to plan, organize, andimplement aquatic programs, including swimming lessons, as part ofthe College’s Continuing Education offerings for students and thecommunity.
- Supervises Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and other Aquatic Centerstaff responsible for patron safety, swimming instruction, andaquatic programming.
- Approves time and attendance records, prepares staff workschedules, and organizes staff training and in-serviceactivities.
- Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training,and performance management of Aquatic Center staff.
- Ensures Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors maintain requiredcertifications, including Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instruction,CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, First Aid, and BloodbornePathogens, and maintains certification records.
- Oversees and monitors the work of maintenance staff responsiblefor pool testing, water quality monitoring, and regulatorycertification activities.
- Oversees the maintenance of operational, activity, and incidentrecords to ensure compliance with public health regulations, poolcertification requirements, and safety protocols. Prepares andprovides reports and operational data to management as required andcollaborates with the Director of Risk Management to supportcompliance with safety protocols.
- Completes and reviews incident, accident, and rescuereports.
- Maintains inventory and conducts inspections of first aid,lifesaving, and aquatic safety equipment.
- Assists supervisor and college administrators in preparing theannual operating budget for the Aquatics Center and oversees andmonitors budget expenditures.
- Adheres to CCC customer service excellence standards.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university,preferably in Physical Education, Recreation, SportsAdministration, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience inaquatics, recreation management, aquatic facility operations, or arelated field required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered at the discretion of management
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification required,including First Aid, Water Safety Instruction, CPR/AED for theProfessional Rescuer, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.
- Supervisory work experience in an aquatic program is highlydesirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of lifeguard safety practices, watersafety instruction, and emergency response procedures.
- Knowledge of swimming pool mechanical systems, water chemistry,and aquatic facility operations.
- Knowledge of applicable public health regulations, riskmanagement principles, and industry standards governing the care,maintenance, and operation of public swimming pools.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer serviceskills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate aquatic or recreationalprogramming.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverseenvironment.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

WORK SCHEDULE
- Monday–Thursday: 1:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m.
- Friday: 12:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
- Subject to enrollment, pool hours, and program needs
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability and willingness to work some weekends, as needed.
- Ability and willingness to support registration, enrollment, andCE program operations.
Additional Information:
- Salary Range: $48,561 - $55,000
- Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education,knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such asinternal equity.
