Job description

The University of Miami is currently seeking a Manager, Radiology to work at UMHC - UM Hospital and Clinics in Miami. The incumbent works under the administrative direction of the Director of Imaging. The Radiology Department Manager provides leadership and oversight for the GCRB Diagnostic Center and related locations/support services. This position is responsible for providing the strategic direction. The Manager has budgeting responsibilities, as well as technology acquisition. The Manager will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. This position collaborates with the Radiologists and Technologists to implement services and processes to achieve the goals of the Department and UHealth. This position is responsible for monitoring effective physician relationships and intradepartmental relations.

Core Job Functions

  • Responsible for managing, planning, organizing, and directing the overall Imaging operations.
  • Evaluates new equipment and services, with input from physicians and staff, for cost-effectiveness and operating efficiency; recommends major purchase of equipment and implementation of new services.
  • Oversees the proper maintenance of financial, statistical, and personnel records for areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares and supervises the preparation of various internal financial statistical reports required by UHealth Administration. Develops and maintains financial aspects of the department. Prepares, secures necessary approval, and manages operational and capital budgets.
  • Coordinates all purchases of supplies, minor/capital equipment, and invoice payment to Radiology services.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with Physicians and other UHealth department leaders in order to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems and initiates new programs.
  • Interviews, hires, terminates, counsels, and evaluates subordinate personnel in accordance with UHealth policies.
  • Administer department policies and procedures pertaining to work processes, rules or scheduling of subordinates, consults with Radiologists and Technologists in developing new departmental policies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Consults with the Director in the establishment and attainment of long-range goals, objectives and strategic planning; ensures processes, policies and procedures achieve agreed goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and ensures compliance with all accrediting and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborates with the Radiology staff and intra‑departmental leaders to ensure the needs of the department and patient are met.
  • Monitors ongoing financial performance of the department and takes appropriate corrective action to achieve financial goals.
  • Promotes customer service excellence culture which encourages quality care/services, enhances the image of the department and institution, and promotes staff retention.
  • Rounds throughout the area and appropriate ancillary departments and radiology stakeholders.
  • Communicates with various outside professionals and sales groups to obtain and exchange information related to the Radiology Department.

Department Specific Functions – GCRB Imaging Center

  • Oversee Kendall MR service and staff.
  • Collaborate with Radiologist for MRI protocol development and implementation at all locations.
  • Develop and disseminate system wide MRI policies, SOP’s and hospital MR Safety CBL (for EVS and Facilities).
  • Perform MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) duties.
  • Responsible for outside student onboarding/training, including UHealth preceptorship.
  • Conducts MRI safety training for incoming Radiology residents/fellows stationed at GCRB Diagnostic Center.
  • Oversee existing and new MRI Research programs.
  • Oversee MRI safety support team

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):
  • 5 years of experience in healthcare operations with a minimum of 3 years of experience within the delivery of Radiology Services required.
  • Certification in an Allied Health Science Profession, (ARRT) strongly preferred.
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Exhibits exemplary levels of professionalism and leadership.
  • Possesses superior organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • MRI Certified Safety Officer Certified within one year of hire
