  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to lead and delegate tasks, policies, and processes.

Position Summary

MaineHealth is seeking an experienced healthcare leader to oversee the strategic direction, operational performance, and continued growth of our Ambulatory Infusion Suite (AIS) program. This role is responsible for leading end-to-end infusion operations, ensuring a seamless patient experience from referral receipt through treatment completion. The Manager partners closely with pharmacy, nursing, providers, revenue cycle, and administrative teams to optimize patient access, operational efficiency, quality outcomes, and financial performance.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in managing complex healthcare operations, building high-performing teams, and driving program growth. This leader will play a key role in advancing ambulatory infusion services through operational excellence, standardization, innovation, and the development of new care delivery models across MaineHealth.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience managing ambulatory infusion, specialty pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, medication access, or other complex healthcare service line operations.
  • Experience overseeing referral intake, benefits investigation, prior authorization, financial assistance, scheduling, and medication access workflows.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience collaborating across pharmacy, nursing, provider, revenue cycle, and administrative departments.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and optimize operational workflows that improve patient access, quality, and service excellence.
  • Experience with program development, site startup, service expansion, or operational transformation initiatives.
  • Experience managing complex budgets, resource allocation, inventory, and financial performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement, payer processes, medication procurement, and revenue cycle operations related to infusion or specialty therapies.
  • Demonstrated ability to use operational, quality, and financial data to drive performance improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Advanced degree preferred (MBA, MHA, PharmD, MSN, or equivalent).

They have a track record of successfully leading complex operations, implementing scalable processes, and fostering collaboration across multiple disciplines. Experience supporting ambulatory infusion services, specialty pharmacy, medication access, or related healthcare programs is highly desirable. This individual thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited by the opportunity to build, expand, and optimize a growing ambulatory infusion network.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in Pharmacy. Completion of a residency preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Must be a registered pharmacist in the State of Maine.
  3. Experience: Possesses 2 or more years of health-system pharmacy management experience (or equivalent) in a pharmaceutical department of a large health care facility.
  4. Knowledge of large scale health-system pharmacy procedures.
  5. Knowledge of the basic principles of operations, planning, financial stewardship, and personnel management as they relate to the practice of pharmacy.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
  7. Ability to provide effective leadership through planning, delegation, and assignment of tasks, processes, and responsibilities to pharmacy team members
  8. Ability to develop and manage policies and procedures.
  9. Ability to analyze complex problems, formulates sound solutions, secures approvals from key stakeholders, and implements such solutions.
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other members of the health care team including pharmacy team members, supervisors, pharmacy management team, including nurses, medical staff, pharmacy colleagues, and representatives from the community and industry.
  11. Ability to instruct pharmacy team members in the methods, techniques, and procedures in contemporary health-system pharmacy practice.
  12. Ability to implement change effectively using the established committee infrastructure within the organization.
  13. Ability to provide oversight for clinical training of residents and/or students.

The pay range for this position is $154,211.20to $208,624.00per year.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
