Job Summary

Managing daily operation of sand mine; including supervision of salaried supervisor(s) and hourly employees. Responsible for budgeting; mine planning; permitting; working as member of plant management team to achieve operational goals and objectives; managing contracts and contractors; and community relations.

Job Responsibilities

1. Achieve and/or maintain Zero4Life, utilizing VFL program and supporting SIC and SBO programs; promote a healthy workforce.
2. Track costs and maintain cost efficiency in the sand mine operation.
3. Develop and maintain a safe, environmentally compliant operation with support from Safety and Environmental Representatives.
4. Innovate operational methods to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
5. Coordinate with Corporate Mine Planning staff and local QC staff to develop short-term and long-term mining plans.
6. Direct production to meet goals, minimize overtime, and manage scheduling and vacations.
7. Maintain equipment with assistance from maintenance personnel through proper coordination and scheduling.
8. Oversee procurement of routine materials for the operation.
9. Ensure compliance with zoning and permits.
10. Develop and manage the annual budget.
11. Meet safety requirements per MSHA and local regulations, and address environmental concerns.
12. Represent the company in the local community and foster good community relations.
13. Understand basic financial reporting related to operations.
14. Use KPIs to guide production and identify improvement areas.
15. Coordinate with sales for inventory planning.
16. Adhere to all safety and regulatory standards, wearing proper safety equipment on site.
17. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of mine supervision experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office; AutoCAD experience a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physical labor as needed.
• Self-motivated team player focused on achieving goals.

Working Conditions

• Extended hours and overnight travel as required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to operate, activate, and inspect equipment; exert force up to 50 pounds; work sitting, walking, or standing.
