Job summary

Wipfli is seeking a Healthcare Controller to lead our Outsourced Controller teams serving healthcare clients, with focus on post-acute care, skilled nursing, and hospital engagements. This remote role requires strong accounting leadership and client-facing skills.

You will oversee multiple client teams, coach staff, and deliver quality financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses while promoting operational improvements and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• 4–6 years of experience in public or private accounting.
• 3+ years managing associates and/or teams.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
• Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Review financial reporting packages and work papers for quality, completeness, and timely delivery.
• Prepare and analyze benchmarking data and KPIs to support client insights.
• Present completed reporting packages and findings to clients as directed.
• Assist in budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models.
• Provide technical accounting support to clients and their teams on complex issues.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Lead and coach staff and senior accountants across US and offshore teams.

As a Controller in Healthcare with our Outsourced Controller team, you will oversee and manage multiple client teams engaged with our healthcare clients, provide training to and promote development of staff, have direct client contact providing superior client consulting services. Healthcare industry experience that includes post-acute care, skilled nursing and/or hospital required.This position can work remotely anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the efforts of US and offshore engagement team members, ensuring high-quality deliverables, efficient workflow management, and a consistent client experience.
• Lead and coach staff and senior accountants, providing guidance on accounting and financial reporting matters.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• 4–6 years of experience in public or private accounting.
• 3+ years managing associates and/or teams.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
• Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
• Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Strong project management and relationship-building skills, with a client-first mindset.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Preferred proficiency in industry accounting software, e.g., QuickBooks Online, Sage Inacct, and a demonstrated ability to embrace new technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to influence others, promote constructive change, and develop team members.
• Ability to travel up to 10%
