Job summary

Elbit America in Roanoke, VA seeks an experienced General Accounting Manager to lead the accounting operations for the $450M+ Warfighter Systems division. You will oversee GL, AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end closing, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.

This role reports to the Warfighter Systems Controller in Roanoke. You will manage a small accounting team, drive process improvements, and partner with IT during ERP transitions while maintaining

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
5+ years in Finance/Accounting.
Leadership experience with direct reports preferred.
Experience in project-oriented manufacturing/engineering preferred.
Strong analytical skills with accuracy.
Advanced MS Excel skills.
Defense contracting knowledge (FAR/DFARS/CAS) a plus.
CPA is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the local accounting department (GL, AP, AR, Payroll, Reconciliations).
Lead month-end/quarter-end/year-end closing; own reconciliation processes; use BlackLine for closing/tracking.
Prepare and review financial statements; ensure timely reporting to Warfighter Systems and Corporate Finance.
Ensure GAAP compliance; maintain SOX controls with AuditBoard; support external audit testing.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; lead team initiatives and performance evaluations.
Partner with IT to support legacy ERP while new Infor ERP is implemented at Roanoke site.
Own cash management; support working capital reporting and cashflow forecasting.
Assist budgeting/forecasting for Capex, Cashflow, and expenses; support FP&A variances.
Champion continuous improvement and take on special finance projects.
Act as business partner to Warfighter Systems Site Leadership Team with cross-functional collaboration.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Accounting Manager to lead the accounting operations and ensure the integrity of financial reporting for the growing $450M+ Warfighter Systems division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day general accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and leading a team of accountants. This role will report directly to the Warfighter Systems Controller in Roanoke, VA.

Key Job Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

Oversee daily operations of the local accounting department, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Reconciliations.
Lead local Finance Closing (month-end, quarterly, year-end) processes. Prepare and review journal entries as required. Support closing documentation and approvals. Own overall account reconciliation processes. Utilize the BlackLine system for closing and reconciliation tracking.
Prepare and review accurate financial statements and reports. Responsible for timely reporting of financials to Warfighter Systems and Corporate Finance teams.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial policies. Utilize AuditBoard to maintain SOX controls and procedures. Support external E&Y audit testing and requests.
Supervise, mentor, and train direct accounting staff. Lead accounting team goal setting and initiatives. Provide performance evaluations and professional development for team.
Partner with IT team to support key accounting processes in legacy ERP system while new A&D Infor ERP system is being implemented at the Roanoke site.
Own Cash management. Support new Working Capital reporting and improvement initiatives. Develop new Operating Cashflow forecasting process and tracking locally.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities for Capex, Cashflow, and Expense items. Support FP&A function with variance analysis as needed to drive key decision-making.
Help champion continuous improvement within the Finance/Accounting team. Identify and implement tools and training as needed. Take on special finance projects as assigned.
Be a business partner to Warfighter Systems Site Leadership Team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Human Resources, Operations, Engineering, and Purchasing.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
CPA is a plus but not required.
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant Finance/Accounting work experience. Preferably direct experience working with General Ledger, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions.
Previous leadership experience as manager with direct reports preferred.
Experience working in a project-oriented manufacturing/engineering environment preferred.
Advanced expertise analyzing financial information. Must possess a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail but also be able to look at the 'big picture'.
Ability to design Finance processes and metrics within the functional area.
Possess a proven solid work ethic and be able to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives and meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written). Able to communicate financial and accounting terms to business unit staff clearly and concisely.
Overall mindset of continuous improvement. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify and implement process improvements.
Advanced expertise with MS Excel including complex formulas and pivot tables.
Defense contracting experience and working knowledge of Government cost principles - Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) is a plus but not required.
