Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years in accounting/financial reporting, pharma preferred.
  • Experience with Order to Cash, revenue accounting, and Gross-to-Net.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Advanced Excel and Word; familiarity with ERP systems (Dynamics BC).
  • Experience with tax compliance topics (Federal and State).
  • Ability to identify process improvements and automate where possible.
  • High integrity, initiative, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Team Coordination: lead day-to-day accounting operations and promote process efficiencies.
  • Financial Reporting: prepare timely, GAAP-compliant reports for local/global teams.
  • Month-End Close: manage journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses.
  • O2C Process: oversee revenue recognition, AR, and cash application with deductions.
  • Compliance & Audit: ensure controls, assist audits, and uphold internal policies.
  • Process Improvements: implement scalable accounting processes and ERP upgrades.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects/Other Duties: support management with finance analyses and tasks.
  • Stay current with regulations (FDA/EMA) and corporate policies.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Accounting, the Accounting Manager will manage core accounting functions, including GTN accounting, cash and AR reporting, month-end close procedures, and internal control compliance. This role will provide oversight to key areas such as revenue, Gross-to-Net, Order to Cash activities, prepaids, and other balance sheet reconciliations. The Accounting Manager will serve as a critical partner across departments, contribute to decision-making, and play a key role in streamlining accounting processes as the company scales. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Gross-to-Net accounting, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry, strong analytical skills and be able to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Team Coordination: Execute day-to-day operations of the accounting function, providing guidance and process efficiencies throughout the month. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the accounting team.
  • Financial Reporting: Execute timely and accurate preparation of financial reports in compliance with US GAAP and company policy. Ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly financial reporting in alignment with local and global reporting requirements.
  • Month-End Close: Contribute to the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses are completed on schedule and with high quality. Execute day-to-day accounting activities of the Company, including ownership of cash application, bank reconciliations, AR aging reporting, Gross-to-Net account details, monthly book close process, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Order To Cash (O2C) Process: Possesses a strong understanding of revenue recognition principles, accounts receivable management, and cash application procedures. Ensures accurate tracking and reporting of sales orders, invoices, and customer payments, including validation of Chargeback claims / Off-Invoice discounts. Coordinates and collaborates with external customer service and internal Market Access teams to ensure accuracy of receivables, sales and related deductions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, including internal control requirements and industry-specific regulations. Monitor accounting processes to ensure they align with US GAAP principles and are in alignment with internal company policies. Support internal risk compliance by properly performing assigned internal controls.Execute and enhance documentation of financial processes and controls
  • Audit Support: In close collaboration with the Sr. Manager of Accounting, coordinate preparation for annual audits and quarterly reviews, managing auditor requests and schedules. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and provide support to auditors during annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Process Improvements:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting and finance operations, implementing best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Assist with the implementation of consistent accounting and finance processes and procedures.
    • Evaluate automation opportunities and implement scalable solutions to support company growth
    • Successfully participate in implementations/upgrades of the ERP system [MC Dynamics Business Central]
  • Ad-Hoc Projects/Other Duties: Participate in ad-hoc projects and analyses as required by management and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Stay current and in compliance both individually and as a department to align with industry best practices. This includes all Corporate Policies as well as mandated government Regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines related to pharmaceutical operations, including FDA, EMA, and other global health authority regulations.
  • Stay current with and adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.

Education & Professional Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive accounting/financial reporting experience required, with at least 2+years in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Prior exposure to Order to Cash, revenue accounting, and Gross-to-Net reporting is required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Advanced level proficiency with Excel, Word, and accounting-related software.
  • ERP system experience (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central strongly preferred)
  • Experience in supporting tax compliance topics for both Federal and State taxation
  • Ability to identify and implement process and procedure improvements.
  • High degree of professional integrity, initiative, and accountability
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
