Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Manager for the Monmouth Medical Center and Vogel Cancer Center Distribution Department in New Jersey. The role oversees perioperative supply chain operations, ensuring availability of surgical supplies and implants while maintaining cost efficiency and regulatory compliance.

You will lead a team, analyze KPIs, coordinate with nursing leadership and clinicians, and drive improvements in inventory utilization and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of healthcare supply chain or perioperative services experience with managerial experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily perioperative supply chain operations to ensure uninterrupted availability of surgical supplies, implants, tissues, and specialty products.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels using utilization data and analytics to support operational and clinical needs.
  • Oversee inventory control processes, including product expiration monitoring, stock rotation, cycle counting, and compliance with FIFO practices.
  • Partner with OR leadership, clinical teams, and schedulers to ensure timely case preparation and support emergency, urgent, and add-on procedures.

Job description

Manager – Monmouth Medical Center, Vogel Cancer Center, Distribution Department (Full‑Time, Day shift)

Pay Range: $65,000.00 – $91,000.00 per year (anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey).

Job Overview

Supply Chain OR Managers, including those with titles of manager or operations manager, oversee supply chain operations related to the hospital’s perioperative and surgical services. This role ensures the timely availability of surgical supplies and implants while maintaining cost efficiency, inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted support for surgical services. The OR supply chain manager collaborates with nursing leadership, clinicians, vendors, and supply chain leadership to optimize surgical supply utilization and operation performance, manages direct reports, and delivers all clean linen exchange for the soiled linen carts to Nursing Units.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage daily perioperative supply chain operations to ensure uninterrupted availability of surgical supplies, implants, tissues, and specialty products.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels using utilization data and analytics to support operational and clinical needs.
  • Oversee inventory control processes, including product expiration monitoring, stock rotation, cycle counting, and compliance with FIFO practices.
  • Partner with OR leadership, clinical teams, and schedulers to ensure timely case preparation and support emergency, urgent, and add‑on procedures.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Clinical Resource Management to address product conversions, backorders, shortages, recalls, and patient‑specific supply requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise tissue tracking, implant management, and recall policies; monitor tissue storage and inventory integrity.
  • Investigate and resolve ERP inventory discrepancies and supply‑related issues in collaboration with operational leadership.
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), inventory utilization, spend, waste, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead physician preference card optimization initiatives to improve standardization, inventory management, and cost effectiveness.
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate perioperative supply chain staff; establish work assignments, schedules, performance expectations, and accountability standards.
  • Conduct regular departmental rounding, audits, and documentation activities to support regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety requirements.
  • Partner with the Site Supply Chain Director and perioperative leadership to achieve departmental goals, enhance service levels, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
