Job summary

University of the Pacific in Stockton seeks a Manager for Building Operations, responsible for daily facility readiness, inspections, and coordination with the team to maintain safe, fully operational environments for the School of Dentistry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, facilities management, or related field preferred.

Manager
Primary Purpose:

Under the general supervision of the Director, Building Operations,primarily responsible for ensuring daily facility readiness throughconsistent inspection, proactive identification of issues andcoordination with the team to maintain safe and fully operationalenvironments. The role oversees the preventative maintenanceprogram, event operation support, department supply and materialsorders, contracted services and projects for the School ofDentistry.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform daily building inspections to proactively identify andresolve deficiencies, improving operational responsiveness andsupporting preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Oversee maintenance and operations decisions regarding repairsand replacements; schedule and manage equipment shutdowns forregular maintenance, including working with vendors andcontractors.
  • Manage building operations team to support all scheduled eventsand exams from planning to execution optimizing engagement andsuccessful outcomes.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation ofthe capital equipment replacement plan; make recommendationsregarding replacement of capital equipment.
  • Manage a web-based work order/maintenance managementsystem.
  • Develop and maintain administrative and operational policiesand procedures manuals and standard operating procedures for use ofclinical and mechanical equipment.
  • Analyze training needs for department and oversee stafftraining and participation in on-going technical training; developin-house training modules.
  • Collaborate with Director of Building Operations to prepareannual departmental budget.
  • Act as Director of Building Operations in the absence of theDirector.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Director, BuildingOperations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
  • Facilities maintenance equipment and practices.
  • Building and fire codes.
  • OSHA Regulations
  • Haz-mat guidelines.
  • Project management and principles.
  • Budget planning and management.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, andOutlook),
  • Building management systems or CMMS systems.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years' administrative experience infacilities.
  • Minimum of three years of prior manager/supervisionexperience.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
  • Position is full-time, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend shifts.
  • May require response to emergencies after hours or onweekends.
  • Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be reasonablyanticipated. Personal protective equipment will be provided toreduce or eliminate exposure to routine or limited infectiousagents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Experience in a higher education environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role helpful.
Ability to:
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Manage time and set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies or unanticipated repairs andmaintenance requirements with minimal effect on academic/clinicoperations.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the development, organization andmaintenance of departmental procedures.
  • Communicate tactfully, courteously and effectively withfaculty, staff, students and the public.
  • Project a professional image and maintain professionalcomposure and demeanor.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Work effectively and accurately with multipleinterruptions.
  • Develop professional letters, reports, and emailcorrespondence.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, facilitiesmanagement, or related field preferred.
Other:
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diversebackgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity,and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practicesand knowledge in their work.
Physical Requirements:

  • Use of computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Requires frequent walking, sitting and standing; occasionallifting of up to 60 lbs. should be anticipated.
  • Requires incumbent to drive on university business; must meetand maintain automotive insurability requirements as defined by theuniversity's fleet safety rules.
Hiring Range:

86,991.16-119,604.16 We consider factors suchas, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position,candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market andorganizational considerations when extending an offer.
