Job Description

When joining our Management Training Program, you will join the company as an Operations Supervisor. The program is a 15-week training period where you will learn about our company and industry from a service center perspective. You will work at one of our 240 nationwide Service Centers, and willingness to relocate is essential. The training focuses on front-line operational supervisory roles, safety, maintenance, and transportation procedures. You will observe supervisors during various operational shifts (inbound, outbound, city, and DC) at an ABF Freight Service Center. Additionally, you will gain insights into sales by spending time with ArcBest Account Managers, accompanying them on client presentations to learn account management dynamics. After completing the training, you will be placed in one of our facilities across the continental United States as an Operations Supervisor. Our top management team members have developed their careers through similar training and growth opportunities within ArcBest and ABF Freight.

Responsibilities
  • Foster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
  • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
  • Plan, supervise, and control resources for timely, damage-free, and safe freight loading/unloading.
  • Support a values-driven culture focused on creativity, integrity, collaboration, growth, excellence, and wellness.
  • Maintain load plans and ensure proper load balance for vehicle safety.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Assign tasks to workers based on unloading and loading schedules.
  • Coordinate work and monitor performance.
  • Provide training, feedback, and disciplinary recommendations as needed.
  • Ensure a clean, safe working environment for personnel and visitors.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required.

Additional Requirements: Knowledge of freight handling, imports, exports, and proper freight techniques is preferred. Willingness to relocate is required.

Compensation: Salary position paid biweekly.
