Management Trainee - Sales Manager track

Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: SHLD) is a leading integrated retailer with almost 2,500 full-line and specialty retail stores in the United States and Canada. Sears is a leading home appliance retailer and also specializes in tools, lawn and garden, fitness equipment, and automotive repair and maintenance.

The Management Trainee partners with the leadership team to complete a twelve-month training program focused on a specific track, which the candidate will be hired into. This position provides comprehensive learning of all aspects of the Home Improvement business relevant to the chosen track during the program.

The trainee must demonstrate leadership competencies required for each track upon program completion. Tracks include areas such as Sales, Production, Call Center Operations, Business Analytics, or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning). After completing the program, the individual should be proficient in all job responsibilities and be prepared to assume a salaried manager role.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Drive a culture of analytics and sound decision-making to identify key problems and recommend solutions to leadership.
  • Utilize resources and tools to create a seamless home improvement customer experience.
  • Engage with various levels in district, call center, or corporate settings to learn and demonstrate effective customer satisfaction strategies and inspire team members.
  • Gather and analyze data systematically; probe to understand data deeply and generate multiple solutions.
  • Support business strategy through effective communication, presentations, and discussions to promote understanding and commitment.
  • Develop insights into organizational dynamics and leverage these to improve business results and employee engagement.
  • Complete all program requirements, including passing knowledge tests and manager evaluations.
  • Live the SHC Cultural Beliefs daily, focusing on key results.

Job Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a partnered university or college.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) to inspire and gain support from associates, managers, and customers.
  • Project management, organizational, and time management skills; ability to self-manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to embrace change and demonstrate energy with new opportunities and processes.
  • Remain productive and composed under pressure or stress.
  • Ability to lift and carry products as required; occasional lifting of sample cases up to 40 lbs., depending on the track.
  • Understand the importance of initiatives and prioritize effectively.
  • Represent the company professionally, adhering to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Business Practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • No prior related experience necessary.

Additional Requirements:

  • Driver's license required.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Preferred Skills:

  • Leadership experience, either professionally or extracurricular.
  • Experience with lead tracking, appointment centers, or call center systems.
