Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is currently recruiting Management Trainees who will receive hands-on training in various roles to learn how to manage a shift or operational area in a service center. Upon completing training, trainees will serve as supervisors across shifts and departments, focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, service, and delivery. The program includes assignments assessed through knowledge indicators, papers, management videos, and process improvement recommendations. Trainees will also participate in the Old Dominion Truck Driving Training program to obtain a CDL license, forklift training, and leadership courses.

Responsibilities

1. Complete shift manager’s training as an understudy with an experienced manager or supervisor.
2. Complete forklift training and operational exercises within the service center.
3. Participate in the ODTDT (Old Dominion Truck Driving Training) program to obtain a CDL license.
4. Fill in as a supervisor on various shifts and departments.
5. Develop and update department/area knowledge indicators and improve processes and procedures.
6. Operate in AS400 system to move freight, maintaining records of efficiency, quality, costs, and loads.
7. Use Workday to update payroll and employee information.
8. Write and submit monthly activity reports.
9. Assign work to employees based on daily schedules.
10. Make quick decisions based on volume levels and communicate schedules to staff.
11. Ensure tools and equipment are safe and proper conditions are maintained.
12. Travel approximately 15% to other service centers for cross-site learning and supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Proficiency in computer software such as WORD and EXCEL; AS400 experience helpful.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Solid work history (if applicable).
• Professional appearance.
• Willingness to relocate after the trainee program.

Compensation Range: $62,400 - $65,520. Actual salary may vary based on location, experience, education, and skills.

Working Days & Shift: To be determined, based on scheduling and business needs.
