Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is currently recruiting Management Trainees who will receive hands-on training in various roles to learn how to manage a shift or operational area in a service center. After training, trainees will act as supervisors across shifts and departments, emphasizing safety, quality, efficiency, service, and delivery. The program includes completing assignments assessed through knowledge indicators, writing papers, viewing management videos, and suggesting process improvements. Trainees will also participate in the Old Dominion Truck Driving Training program to obtain a CDL license, forklift training, and management and leadership courses.

Responsibilities

• Complete shift manager’s training as an understudy with experienced managers or supervisors.
• Participate in forklift training and perform related exercises across all service center jobs.
• Engage in the ODTDT (Old Dominion Truck Driving Training) program to obtain a CDL license.
• Serve as a supervisor on various shifts and departments.
• Complete and develop department/area knowledge indicators, processes, and procedures.
• Utilize AS400 to move freight, maintain records of efficiency, quality, costs, hot loads, missed loads, etc.
• Update payroll and employee data in Workday as needed.
• Prepare and submit monthly activity reports.
• Assign work to employees based on daily schedules.
• Make quick, informed decisions based on volume levels and communicate schedules to staff.
• Inspect and ensure safe working conditions of tools and equipment, correcting issues as needed.
• Travel approximately 15% to other service centers to learn operations and supervise in different environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proficiency in computer software such as WORD and EXCEL; AS400 experience is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Solid work history, if applicable.
• Professional appearance.
• Willingness to relocate after completing the trainee program.

Compensation Range:
The salary range listed is based on the company's good faith belief at the time of posting and may vary based on location, experience, market conditions, education, and skills.
($62,400 - $65,520)

Working Days and Shifts:

Shift hours and days are to be determined and may change based on business needs.
