Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in management analysis, program evaluation, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze complex data.
  • Experience conducting research, evaluating programs, and developing data-driven recommendations.
  • Experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing projects to timely completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey findings to diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data analytics, statistical and computational modeling to support projects and initiatives.
  • Gather and store source data, clean, normalize, validate, and integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Design, develop, and maintain analytical models, scripts, and automated workflows.
  • Design experiments and develop scalable models using data-science and AI methods.
  • Develop analytical solutions supporting audit, investigative, and program evaluation activities.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI or Tableau.
  • Conduct risk modeling, anomaly detection, trend analysis, and predictive analytics.
  • Collaborate with investigators, auditors, analysts, and subject-matter experts to define requirements.
  • Use Python, SQL, and other languages to manipulate and transform datasets; automate processes.
  • Perform ad hoc data-analysis and communicate findings in written and verbal formats.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports addressing data quality, methodologies, results, and recommendations.
  • Document data sources, methodologies, and workflows for transparency.
  • Provide staff training and user guides for developed products.
  • Monitor and update models and data workflows as needs evolve.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, accessibility, and data governance requirements.

How You Will Make an Impact

You will develop data-driven solutions that strengthen audits, investigations, inspections, and program evaluations. Using Python, SQL, statistical modeling, machine learning, and visualization tools, you will integrate and analyze data to identify risks, detect anomalies, and inform oversight decisions. Your work will deliver reliable, reproducible analyses, practical dashboards, and clear recommendations, while equipping staff with the documentation and training needed to sustain these capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform data analytics, statistical and non-statistical modeling, data mining, and data-management activities supportingprojects and initiatives.
  • Gather and store source data in its original form, then process, clean, normalize, validate, and integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
  • Design, develop, and maintain analytical models, scripts, algorithms, and automated workflows.
  • Design experiments, test hypotheses, and develop scalable analytical models using data-science and artificial-intelligence methods, including machine learning.
  • Design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other analytical solutions supporting audit, investigative, research, and program evaluation activities.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Conduct risk modeling, anomaly detection, trend analysis, and predictive analytics to support investigations, audits, and inspections.
  • Collaborate with investigators, auditors, analysts, and subject-matter experts to define analytical requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Use Python, SQL, and other programming languages to manipulate, analyze, and transform datasets and automate analytical processes.
  • Perform ad hoc audit and investigative data-analysis requests and communicate findings in written and verbal formats.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports addressing data adequacy and quality, methodologies, assumptions, results, findings, recommendations, and the relevance of the issues under review.
  • Document data sources, methodologies, model assumptions, analytical workflows, code, data pipelines, and models to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and continuity.
  • Provide training to staff on all work products developed, including preparing user guides, manuals, technical documentation, and other knowledge-transfer materials.
  • Monitor, maintain, and update analytical models, scripts, and data workflows as technologies, data sources, and mission requirements evolve.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal security, privacy, accessibility, and data-governance requirements.

  • Familiarity with the functions, operations, and objectives of an Office of Inspector General or a similar oversight organization (highly preferred)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and successfully complete the required background investigation and onboarding process.
Work Location

This position supports the National Science Foundation Office of Inspector General (NSF OIG) located in National Science Foundation. Work may be performed onsite, hybrid, or as otherwise directed.

Compensation

Salary is dependent on experience (DOE) and will be determined based on qualifications, relevant experience, and applicable requirements.
